Thanks for the Junior Brown. I've seen him live a few times. Always a great show. He always does a surfer medley, along with a killer Hendrix medley.

I've only seen him once, but it was a great and very memorable performance... and it was in a relatively small local venue with 300-400 appreciative fans. I was able to get one of the JB posters off the wall near the end of the night and get him to sign it outside as he was getting on his bus.

Everyone... humor alert... fair warning here; make sure you don't have a mouthful of coffee, beer, etc. in your mouth when you watch this:

I watched this live the other day. Paddling into 30 to 40 foot waves with 30 mile an hour off shore winds.

Favorite to watch Baz, just watch. Even 35 years ago in my surfing prime, I was not prepared for Teahupoo.

Yep a truly spectacular wave and set up there, sure has turned into a zoo tho.

The paddle in lineup reminds me of pipe. Skis jostling for position looks crazy.

But what a wave!

If you watch the video of ten minutes of raw footage you can see some of the boats barely in the channel, have the front driving position. This really puzzled me when I first saw them. Was told that they use them to drive up tp and gig/ harpoon Mahimahi swimming at the surface. They have a Joy stick for quick steering. Wild huh?

Cheers Richard

I just realized that I was referring to an other video ( labeled ten Minuutes of raw footage, can't seem to find it now )that I jumped to after watching that horrendous wipeout ,
Just how bad the wipeout was, was emghisized by the guy in the fore ground waving for a rescue ski right away.

Sad.......

Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman: Australian surfers' remains identified in Mexico

Mexican officials have confirmed that two bodies found in a bunt-out camper van in north-western Sinaloa state last month are those of Australian surfers Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman.

The two 33-year-olds were last seen alive on the night of 20 November in the town of Topolobampo.

They were planning to travel to the city of Guadalajara when they disappeared.

Mexican police have arrested three men in connection with their murder.

Police officials said the three confessed to killing the two surfers when they fought back during an attempted robbery.

Two more suspects are still at large.

Large swathes of Sinaloa are under the control of the drug cartel of the same name.

On Monday, Mexican surfers paid tribute to Mr Lucas and Mr Coleman, originally from Worcestershire, in the UK, by paddling out into the ocean and throwing flowers into the sea.

The president of Mexico's national surfing federation, Luis Skeen, said he hoped the ceremony would show the world that there was a different side to Mexico.

Surfing champion Mick Fanning's brother Peter dies, aged 43

The brother of Australian surfing champion Mick Fanning had died, just hours before Fanning paddled out to compete for the world championship title at Pipeline in Hawaii.

Peter Fanning, 43, died in his sleep, according to Surfer Magazine, although no further details were available about the circumstances of his death.

Fanning was reportedly told of his brother's death before entering the water for the third round of the Pipe Masters at Hawaii.

Despite the tragic news, Fanning went on to win the third and fourth rounds of the event, on Hawaii's North Shore.

In an emotional interview after his heat four win against Kelly Slater and John John Florence, Fanning broke down as he said he was dealing with some "personal" issues, although he did not say what they were.

"It's been a huge day. Just got some personal stuff going on at home, and just yeah, it's sort of heavy to talk about right now," he said, his voice wavering.

Fanning then hugged the World Surf League commentator who was interviewing him, before leaving the podium.

Rip Curl, which sponsors Fanning, confirmed that Peter had passed away.

"This is a sad and unfortunate incident and is a private matter for the family to deal with," a Rip Curl spokesperson told the ABC.

Re: Lucas and Coleman... IMO, much of Mexico is under control of drug lords and pretty much a war zone... and most of the police are corrupt. And this has been common knowledge for decades.

There are way too many much better places to visit and drop one's vacation dollar. Caveat emptor X 1000.

Time to change the subject... hearing about their murder grinds my gears.

Ran across this tonight... not sure what to think of it...
