This is next: Putting a 5 speed in it, some suspension mods, engine work, rust work, tires and paint.
This one will be my Son's when he graduates from college. I'll get three years of joy then move on to the next, interesting thing. I wish Whippedpuppy could hold on to his Targa for a few years ![]()

I really beat the bushes on this one, Jim.
I mustered my phone, called Eric (Kaisen) and explained what I was looking for. We chatted and he was patient...two days later I figured out he was right the day before when we first talked. Mongo like horses. The first conversation with the current owner and FJ guru was amazing: He went through the options for the truck, what he would do, what made sense for these trucks, etc. I wanted certain things (mostly the ability to cruise at 65 mph plus). Two hours and a few felt tips. We talked a lot about other stuff and I pulled the string on the deal.

Jeff, are you still looking for an SUV for a DD? What are you leaning towards? Also, I sent you an email.
Paul, when did you get the Toy?

I'm waiting on a Skype from NZ: I don't pick it up until June. Trying to make a father/son trip but Jack may be in Japan for language school.

Got your email. I am sitting at a job site checking up on a few things. Sometimes I cruise PPOT when I am waiting for a sub contractor or inspector. I can't really focus with all this going on. The answer is yes to about 95% of your question and the changes are fine. I will return your mail in detail later when I get back home without all the noise and distraction. |

All good, Cliff. I have a bit of a head start working through the rigs I wanted when kids and other stuff were more important. To the OP: The 2003 4Runner Sport 4x4 I bought from Whippedpup may not be "cool", but it is so overbuilt that cool doesn't matter.

Congrats on the FJ Paul, and color me jealous. At the glacial rate that I am progressing on the Targa, it very well may be three years from now.

I like the 4 runner a lot. Plenty of lux-o-boat stuff that I do not care for. Good for taking the kids out to the backcountry and still keep my wife who has become a bit soft over they years when it comes to playing in the dirt. I have to say this, the 4runner is screwed together well. Feels very solid. |

Any car that keeps you and your family safe is a good car.

When my wife was between cars she used my FJ80 as our family car for 3 months. That's noteworthy because at the time it was 20 years old and had almost 200k on it. I don't trust just any car to transport my family, but I never worried about my 80.
