Daughter is officially a Physicans Assistant

She found out today that she passed her certification exam. A couple of years ago, she graduated with her BS in Biology with heavy cell-bio/bio-chem experience. She got out and got a job and hated the kind of work that the 4 year got her so she decided to go back to school to be a PA. She finished her school about a month ago and took her test on Tue. She found out today that she passed. She interviewed with an othorpedic surgeon 2 or 3 weeks. Apparently, that went well and they asked her to come in and shadow a couple of days later. I'm eager to hear how that goes. While she was in rotations earlier this year, there was a doc that told her that he would hire her when she was done for +100k. That was a location a couple of hours outside of town, so I don't think she's really thinking about that much.

I'm very proud, but then she's always been the dependable, reliable, responsible one, so I never really anticipated anything but good things.

But hey, I was always the dependable, reliable and responsible kid and I was a late bloomer. I'm glad it didn't take her as long.

Very cool. I always smile and revel in the threads when proud parents tell the tales of their great children.

Well done.

Congrats! My little sister in law is working through the interview process for PA school now, it's a real achievement just getting accepted into a school.

Thanks guys. I guess, she still has to graduate, but all of her stuff is done, and I think the school is doing the graduation thing next week. Then she has to apply for her license, but it's all paperwork now. All of the tests, and classes and actual work is done. Now she's just waiting on the paperwork to be official.

Yes, it is tough. My daughter did a volunteer stint riding in Ambulances for a while for more experience to help. She had good grades in college. Even then, with, I think, only 2 schools with a PA program here in TX, she was #17 on the waiting list. I guess when Hurricane Ike came through the area, that may have helped bump her up the list.

Good luck to your daughter.

Where outside of town with whom? She might not want to be out in the sticks, but it might be a more interesting job, or she may be given more autonomy. Depending on her interests, she may find a less desireable location may come with a more desireable situation.

Oh yeah, congratulations

A PA is not a small feat. Much better than a nurse. Congrats.

Does she like classic cars? And is she single?

Congrats to her! Healthcare is a great career path to be taking in these times.

Congrats. PA's are more and more becoming the first line of care. I know I rarely see my Dr. anymore. I think its a great career for a young person to strike up now.
