Sid, don't accept the offer too quickly. Ask if they will get you an escort for the time you are down there. They can put her on the payroll as "administrative assistant."

Pat, just saw what you had posted... Sorry but doubt the Houston office does anything like that. Its just a regional office for a large firm. They have their own PR department....
Just spoke with my supervisor. I will be in Brookings until the first part of July. Then I will be in Houston for a month, and then I will be travelling between Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, OKC, Little Rock, and New Orleans.... Not that far away now. I'm getting excited. I'm enrolled in online classes for the time I am gone. If I play my cards right, I won't be set back by taking a semester off. |

More humid, air temps were hotter in OK last summer, but we got almost no moisture all summer, and it was a very dry heat with high winds....
Though, Houston has fewer tornadoes, I'm good with that... |

I spent one summer working in Houston about thirty years ago.
It. was. miserable. Temperatures like we had in Oklahoma last summer, with the humidity of the tropics. I worked for a big 8 accounting firm, so I was wearing a suit and tie every day. Hope your summer goes better than mine did... JR |

If you can survive Oklahoma, you can survive Houston. You trade red-ants for fire ants, a little heat for humidity, and tornados for hurricanes (which are predicted days in advance).
But in all fairness to the rest of you, it sucks here! Really really bad. Don't think of coming! Seriously, we have 4" cockroaches! It is bad here. Just move along...

Guess I should give you all the update on this... I know some of you have heard bits and pieces...
My internship finished up in early December. I spent most of my time July-November working as our full time sales representative in Louisiana and Mississippi. I was offered the permanent position there, but I really need to finish my degree so I had to turn it down. They were very pleased with my performance however, and my supervisor talked the HR department into creating a position for me back here in OK. I will be working while I finish my degree, and they are already starting to discuss which positions they would like to see me in, some of which usually carry a 5 year in industry requirement. They job in OK came with a pretty nice pay raise too, so I must have done something right. ![]() |

2 semesters to figure out what to tell anyone who was leap-frogged!!
My co-workers' son parlayed an internship into FT before graduating almost exactly as you have. It's a genuine accomplishment. Unfortunately, he had to give a big presentation just before X-mas looking like Ed Norton half way through "Fight Club". Tough way for him to learn to be a bit more humble... but he still has all his teeth so a good lesson all the same. Congrats! |

Very cool Sid. I turned an internship into a full time position as well, it's a fantastic way to start your career.
