Heck for awhile there I was afraid that the Pens sent a contagion to Florida with an NJ specific gene!!

Did you see that lead out pass from Brodeur? 3/4 of the rink and very nearly tape to tape.

I question how many concussions come from icing races. Besides there is already a rule in place that says you have to play the puck and can't play the man.
Center line? No way! The game is so much better with fast pace break aways.
I think they are already talking about changing the glass.
I like the idea of "legal holding": OK to wrap your arms around a man when following him into the boards as another option to neutralize the player without having to knock him into the 3rd row. Sometimes hit, sometimes wrap him up.

Cook: He cost the Bruins a cup in 2010 when he took down Savard. I am sure of it and he was on the top of my all time hated players. That said, check the stats for this year. He's a hard hitter but a much cleaner player for 2011-2012.

Races for iced pucks typically cause broken ankles and legs, not concussions.

The bear-hug rule is moronic, it has to be because Brian Burke thinks it's a good idea.

I believe all the 'solid glass' has been altered. The Montreal arena was the worst. It is still too solid, it needs to be like the floppy glass from the 70's.

I don't see the red-line coming back any time soon.

Shoulder pads must have 1/4" of padding on the shoulder caps, as do elbow pads. IIRC.

BTW did you guys see Briere's offside goal? Sacred feces how did the linesmen miss that?

That linesman has done his last playoff game.

And this is why the league needs a challenge rule, like the NFL has....

I wouldn't mind seeing every goal reviewed, its tough when a team loses because of a bad/missed call. the bear hug rule will never happen

I think auto goal review and a challenge rule (for only certain things) is coming eventually. Instant replay already outs bad calls so might as well make it right.

The Pens didn't lose because of the that Briere goal. They lost because they let in 3 more after that. Fleury is not playing playoff hockey. For that matter, their defense was not showing up for most of the two games. They have enough skill, depth, and experience to come back but the odds are much slimmer with last nights loss.
I picked the Pens in 7 in my brackets.

Holtby was playing excellent playoff hockey. The B's threw everything including the kitchen sink at him and he played flawlessly until the OT goal (it happens). If he keeps going like that, it will be a long first round.
I picked the B's in 6.

My other bracket picks:
Canucks over the Kings in 6. I have a feeling I missed that one.
Panthers over Devils in 5.
Rangers over the Sens in 5.
Hawks over the Coyotes in 6.
Wing over the Preds in 7.

*Anyone else want to put their bracket picks up besides me for everyone to laugh at later???

Canucks are done without both sisters, even then I wonder about their ability to fight through adversity.

Panthers are the weakest team in the playoffs. If it ends in five it will be with the Devils on top.

Hawks have their hands full. Depends on the Coyotes ability to quiet the Chicago crowd. I say Jonathon Toews is the difference. Hawks in seven.

Wings and Preds is a pick 'em. I say Preds can do it in game 7.

Nothing on the Rangers v Sens, Pens v Flyers, or Bruins v Caps?

Anyone else? Cmon step up. Pick a team and number to get the first round done.

To me, the best game to watch is the Pens/Flyers. Pure energy, anger, grit and a win by sheer will to overcome. B's/Caps and Wings/Preds are tied for second.

It was that way game one also. I'll give credit to Holtby and the Caps to hold up under the onslaught. Should be an interesting series.
Right now the Rangers and Sens are beating each other up.

flatbutt 04-14-2012 06:15 PM

wow...didn't think that would happen. that's two even-ers today.

Por_sha911 04-15-2012 06:07 AM

You've got to love playoff hockey!

Speaking of things we love. Think of all the things that people love that begin with the letter "B":
beef
blondes
blue skies
Boxters
beer
boobies
bonus pay
breakfast

Flyers are just whacking the Pens. Sacred feces. I'd never have guessed a sweep would be possible.

Buckterrier 04-15-2012 02:08 PM

Well at least it was entertaining

s_morrison57 04-15-2012 02:31 PM

Pens down 3-0, Canucks have Schnider in nets, gotta be a win tonight. I thought the Nucks would win in 5, tells you how much I know. I won't pick any winners in the east, just hope they are long drawn out series. Seems like everybody is givin up on my Canucks, don't count us out yet
