So, does anyone besides me think that Cindy Crosby got away with murder Sunday? At least twice he incited a fight and then walked away. I guess the officials gave him a get out of jail free card. It would be one thing if the opposing team was gunning for you but if you're going to start a fight with Hartnell you should finish it. |

Dude...Holtby! Jeez that kid is playing well. Props to TT but I expect the 'stache to do well. I had Rangers/Ottawa on one screen and B's/Caps on the other. Have to say the Ranger/Sens match was one of the best I've ever seen. |
Hey Finn
Looks like our Canucks are on the verge of being 'crap-bombed' out of the playoffs. They may yet have the dubious distinction of being the first ever President's Cup winner getting swept, although I seem to recall the 'Caps being ousted in the first round (no sweep) a few years back after taking the "Cup". Vancouver is just not a tough team. They were built on a speed & finesse game with an eye & in the spirit of the so-called "new-look" NHL rules. As we are all aware, it was the rules, regs, & competition committees intent to speed up the game & cut down on obstruction & other 'extracurricular actitvities' (intimidation tactics eg.) which, needless to say, exact the opposite effect on the flow of the game. We (the Canucks) have our fair share of 'chirpers' willing to get into the 'after-the-whistle' shenanigans, but alas, no Milan Lucic to actually do something positive to set things straight. None of us advocates any changes which could end up (to quote some) 'wussifying' the game, but the net of all of this is; teams ready to turn the game into a 'street-fight' (especially during the play-offs against opponents deemed to be 'soft') coupled with the referees penchant for putting their whistles in their pockets, tends to favour said teams. Having said all of that: I think "Schneids" will in all probability, be our netminder of the future & Luongo will be traded to Florida(?) This is not to dump on Bobby-Lou's performance in this series. If not for him, the first two games would have been 'laffers' for the Kings. After this season management will start to address the need for a couple of bigger & meaner guys who possess scoring talent plus the added dimension of the physicality we seem to lack. We have been 'run out of the building' before & it is happening again. Our scoring has dried up & our power play has been neutralized by good defensive systems, not to to mention a 'lights-out' goaltender. One other thing Finn, on a positive note, this series is coming back to Vancouver - providing the 'hockey gods' have any sense of fairness with respect to the so-called 'lucky bounce'. Should be something to see. Cheers JB |
I am in the east, and my workload prevents me from watching the late games (last year I actually quit my job becasue it interfered with my hockey viewing). Are the Kings pushing Canucks around?
I agree that the Canucks were built for the 'new NHL', but the Bruins have had some success playing like the Broad Street Bullies. Go figure, the Old NHL is now the way to win. I wish Pronger could still play for the Flyers. That would be a real match-up with the Bruins. At least the Canucks made the playoffs this year. The Devils won the Cup one year and then missed the playoffs the following year. IIRC. |

Hawkeye's 911T, Don't lose the faith just yet, Danny may be back tonight, question is who gets the start in net? Lou can vaive his no trade deal but not until the 14-15 season. I'd love to see Schnide stay but with the cap and him being a restricked free agent I don't think we can swing it, if he has to go it will be to a back east team, we sure don't want Cory on the other team in our conference.
Come on Joe - don't be mean, they have been tight games except for the one 4-2 lose. Finn |
sigh....well my guys just blew another 3-0 lead to lose 3-4. I feel an early tee off time coming.

1990C4S:
The Bruins aren't "playing like the Broad Street Bullies". They are playing like the "Big Bad Bruins" ala 1970-72 (the same time the Flyers also adopted that style) and 2009-2011. Hawk: The Canucks have a lot of skill players but they are the most hated team in the league because of the chirping, diving, and writing checks with their mouths that their bodies can't cash. Finn: I was intending to be mean when I said you have a lot of faith to say the Canucks will take it in 7. Predicting taking a round when you are staring at 0-3 takes great faith. I had my doubts about the B's last year when they went 0-2 with their first two home games against the Bolts. **** Crosby is losing respect with each passing day due to his constant whining, chirping and unwillingness to fight when he instigates. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1334721125.jpg Philadelphia Daily News gives Sidney Crosby strange front page treatment | ProHockeyTalk *** Shanahan has lost respect from players this post season by inconsistent suspensions. How does Shea Weber not get suspended? |

Joe had doubts about his "B's" last year, you never lose the faith man, slap yourself twice and dip your head in the toilet and all will be forgiven.
Go Caps Go Anyone else growing a playoff beard? Finn |
Hey Guys
What about the bull-crap hit on Hossa by a guy with a room temperature I.Q.? I am no fan of the Hawks since Duncan Keith took out Daniel with a dirty hit. It was a year to the day Torres (then a Canuck) 'cheap-shotted' Brent Seabrook & effectively turned that series around & extended it to a 7th game overtime win for the Canucks who were in the driver's seat early in the series. This guy is a repeat offender, shows a clear lack of respect & responsibility & should get more than just being "suspended indefinitely". IMHO if this kind of rubbish isn't stopped soon & a guy like Torres made an example of, somebody is going to be very seriously hurt. However you wish to slice it, that was not a "hockey play" - it was all about 'going for the big hit' no matter what. Just sayin'..... Cheers JB Hey Finn - I think it will be a '3-4 fingers' Glenfiddich night come puck drop - Go Canucks |

Is there a sane person who believes a $2,500 fine makes a difference to a player? Shea Weber makes $2,500 per shift. |
^^^^ Good point - $2,500 is chump change to most of these guys!
Hey & Finn - one more for ya if you get to this in time - who would you start tonight - Schneids or Bobby-Lou? |
I'm answering this after the Canucks win but I probably would have gone with Cory because of his great game 3 but really it makes no difference both the Canucks goalie are right up there with the best goaltenders in this league. Some people are down on Lou cause of the money he makes, most of those same people would love him more if he made 1/2 as much.
1 down - 3 to go The Kings thought this was going to be easy, they're done like dinner Finn |
