Blue heeler.
He was the cutest little guy you could imagine and only about 8 weeks old.
I went full stop on the trail as he stormed up to me like a boss for a little nip.
I did say “hey don’t bite me” and the owner was very apologetic. It was quite funny but also important for the owner to know that he did bite.
I told him that I had a border collie and we chatted about dogs for a few minutes.
No harm no foul but a fun story and a cute little puppy.
Those puppies.......

The DOG thread

That’s why my parents Qweensland Heeler who’s name was Mike was actually called Megabite Mike. He had to have his mouth on everything and everybody. He was always very gentle. It was a security thing I think. We rescued him and he was an absolute doll of a dog.

A pic of many years past.
Murphy, my chum is on the left. Mikey on the right and Hedi-Rose in the middle

Lovely, Bugs.

The breed has an interesting personality - very protective and not afraid to be physical with their head and snout if need be.

The use of the mouth I'm sure dates back to their breeding to nip at the hooves of their flock or herd.

They are so smart though.....nothing gets by them.....

Finally took the plunge and groomed my own dog yesterday Tired of 1-2 months backlog at the groomers and the $50-60 it costs, so I bought equipment including clippers, scissors, and a device that holds the noose to keep the dog steady during cutting.

Having a Schnauzer, I was also frustrated that almost every time we get him groomed he'd have mats and the groomer would say he'd have to be completely shaved down. I decided I was going to somehow salvage his long leg hair and beard and leave his body hair a bit longer too. It wasn't easy and now I know why groomers take the easy way out and just shave them down. It took a solid 3+ hours and I'm still working on some areas, but generally happy with the result. There's definitely an art to it.

You did a good job, there. I had a groomer that used to do show dogs and she turned me on to some products from https://www.naturesspecialties.com/ . The Quicker Slicker helps a lot brushing out the mats and also when you're blow drying the dog afterwards. I use the Plum shampoo on the darker colors and the Blueing on the white parts of the coat.

Thanks Steve. I heard good things about that in a YouTube vid as well. Definitely going to try it. The stuff I got (Perfect Coat) has so-so results.

Anyone have a Sheepadoodle? Looking at a larger non shedding breed and GF is pretty enamored.

We've lost 2 dogs in the last year or so and are just about ready.

Well if you were asking me- Bentley is an English cream retriever. Or “white golden.” Guess I better post another picture of him

Love those elevated hammock beds for the olde puppers. Sir Henry sure loves his, especially in warm days. He loved to sit out in the wee yard and let the breeze envelop him.

Miss that little guy
