Go to a park in Denver and everyone is slathering on sun screen spf 45. Yes, you have to be careful, unless the leathery face look suits you.

Boulder is nice, but pricey.

How about a pool?
SPF 45 in the winter and the summer. Boulder? to much traffic.

The pics of Montana and Lake Cle Elum are idyllic. I'm not worried about wintertime weather. TN winters suit me fine. The brutal humidity and heat are my enemy.

While the Front Range of CO is indeed hot right now, it's worse in Tennessee. Here, I can't climb elevation to get away from the heat. The heat can dominate life, especially for those who enjoys being outside.

My complexion favors my Vietnamese half as opposed to my German half, so I'm not nearly as sensitive as most to the sun. I tan very dark, despite heavy sunscreen use.

High pressure misting? I had no idea it would even work in humid climates. I see another DIY project upcoming.

I'm flying to Colorado to pick up a car later this week, they have been getting slammed with a heat wave. Mid-high 90s in Denver and surrounding area, and of course I'll be driving through some 110deg schit on the way back.

God help me if the car or its A/C breaks down, I'll shoot myself. Colorado is one of my favorite places on earth and known for great weather but everywhere seems to be getting hotter and hotter in recent years, that's just a fact. Summer has become miserable in most of the U.S.A.
So Gull Lake and Madeline Islands are too good for you or what?

Summer home you say? Some where near or in around Lake Tahoe. There are many places you can go to escape the tourists. 3 hours to San Francisco if you need the big city ( I really like) or 2 hours to Sacramento (much smaller and relax). That's where I go If I had the extra money. A little house there for the summer and ski all day in the winter.

Flew into Kalispell Saturday. Looking at property in Hamilton this week after I finish business.

Hoping to start a business here later this year.

The mountains of Colorado are one of my favorite places, I made a yearly summer pilgrimage to Summit County (Breckenridge, Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne) through my high school years. I'm actually heading there soon with the family, leaving humid and 100+ for 75 and dry. The towns near the ski slopes are very nice with lots of amenities but are ghost towns in the summer. It's the best of both worlds, because you get the benefits without having to deal with the masses. No idea what real estate costs, but I suspect if you used your cabin in the summer you could easily rent it for skiers in the winter months.

You guys are quickly convincing me that I need to visit Montana....

not as effective in high humidity, for summer refuge, you can't beat the Lake Tahoe area, sort of pricey, but you can get to Napa Valley or SF in a few hours. A LOT of cool places in the foot hills SW of Tahoe, you can always look east of the lake if you want to avoid the punitive taxes here. Bend OR, or Sisters would be nice too.

Angela, you could always put on a sweater and long pants if you get cold.

Those places are nice but the climate has gotten weird there. What used to be an occasional summer heat wave that lasted for a week in August is now the whole summer, practically. This year, summer started in April(?)

It's not just MN. by any means. I read somewhere that the last month that was cooler than normal in the U.S. was in 1985. Wow.

remember, if you relocate to an area with dry summers that it will likely burn you out eventually

Bend, Sunriver, MT... all those areas are going to burn

if you buy a house, buy stucco -- and live in town
