The next question...

It seems like we pay thru the nose for most of everything automotive here. Tires. Is Tirerack a reputable co. for tires? Their prices seem better than local and they do have recommended installers in Edmonton. I will take pics of my rims on my Boxster(oem rims, nothing special) before I get tires installed to make sure they don't kill the rims.If they do then I have proof. I plan on Michelin tires for summer use. Any comments on these points? Probably should be posted in the Boxster section but I can catch more fish in this big wide net!

Tirerack gets a thumbs up from me and they have a deal with UPS to cover brokerage fees at a lower price. Make sure they will ship the ones you want though - Kal Tire up here has a few exclusive agrements for distribution
I have to ship my Nittos to the border as Kal has the CDN distribution rights and charges about 1.5 times the cost.

Only hassle would be with a tire defect (belt separation or such).

I've used the Tire Rack for twenty years, and I've had a wholesale account through them for five. They are the best of the best overall.....others may be better at one specific piece, they're best at the whole puzzle

Fantastic company, highly recommended. Their ratings and reviews are spot on as well, they're a great shopping tool.

I actually got a better deal with a local indy on the Conti's for my Jeep. They sourced them from the company that also owns/supplies....

Tire Rack

I was amazed. I had originally walked in and asked if they would mount a set if I brought them in. They beat the Tire Rack price by $60 when I asked for a cash price.

Otherwise, the set I bought before that was Tire Rack.

Very good experiences here. Have a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Exaltos from them on the Pcar now.

I agree that they aren't always the cheapest, particularly with shipping. My local Firestone store typically beats their total price when you factor in shipping.

The CDN version is called 1010tires out of BC. They carry some brands that TR doesn't fwiw. I have bought Toyos from them twice with success & a decent price. Room Monkey bought some rims & tires successfully from TR as well so both places work in the frozen north.

I love tirerack. I've probably purchased at least 15 sets of tires from them and have never had a problem. The shipping is usually cheaper than the sales tax would be. the only time that might not be the case is for large tires (like truck tires). Even still, I normally save money going through them. I have an installer that I like, unfortunately they only sell goodyear tires, and I never want goodyear tires. I've never had the installer give me any grief over bringing the tires in.
