Start taking testosterone. It's a miracle drug for us old blokes. See your Dr for a trial of testosterone patches. One patch normally lasts a month. Your weight will come down, your energy levels will increase, not to mention your eer...'staying' power will increase. And you will heal quicker.

It gets a lot worse after 50. Actually I found that somewhere around mid-40's I had to start shedding competitive sports. I'd picked basketball back up in my early 40's, but after a few years up pickup games my back and knees said no more. The last team sport left was softball, but after 4 city league seasons in my mid 40's, I finally had to hang up the spikes. My son and fiance would go to games and always held their breath when I'd dive for a ball at shortstop, wondering if I'd be able to get up. Hobbled through one last game at 1st bass then said no more.
I still get on a bicycle (but not enough) and out into the water body boarding (similarly not enough). The only regular activity I've been able to deal with is tai chi over the past 7 years. My knees crunch on every step, and my back is always one twist away from spasm. I'm viewing as tai chi as about the only savior for any hope of mobility into my 60's and 70's. The other thing I do is end up playing live music about 8-12x a month. That keeps me going... |

It is very, very dangerous to mix gigging with besuboru! You might have been crippled for life had a cello been involved!

Dr's don't listen to me about opiates and how little that they work on me. When I broke my back I told them. 45 minutes latter my hear rate was high an I wasn't.

So at age 64 my brother decides to build a log cabin.
We (wife and I) built our log cabin back when i was a mere 39 years old. (20 years ago) These new fangled logs they grow now a days are a lot heavier.

Vash- find a good Oesteopath. i did my knee about 12 months ago lifting, then really inflamed it on the pushie. It sucks- cant get up, cant get down, cant lift, stairs impossible- knee is serious stuff.
Assuming its nothing requiring the knife....RICE. rest, ice compression, elevation and some specific exercises. Still took a couple of weeks...oesteo is the go.

I was ok until I hit 57, then it really started to go downhill. The handfulls of crap that I take to make things better or live longer could choke a horse but I suppose it helps.
Take care of yourself better when you are young... your body will thank you later on!

I guess I'm lucky. I'm turning 70 in about a week, and I'm suffering from no more than stiffness of joints in the morning, and notice I get noticeably more tired after a day of digging, carrying, and climbing up & down. I did a good job of beating myself up with sports & hiking/climbing, etc. in my younger days. So I'm thankful sofar, but you never know what's around the corner. Here's wishing the rest of you (old an soon to be old farts) the best of energy & comfort as your years pass by. Stay active!

I tried this for a few months...It helped....Check your PSA as there is a cancer risk....I quit abruptly when my count went up...Not worth the risk......

I'm gonna talk to my Doc about this. Prostate was my worry but my PSA has been low for a long time. Mostly, what I read and liked, was that it helps mineralize bonz and with my recent fx of L1 I could really use that. I do NOT wanna go there again !. Also trying to lose weight and have already lost 14#. This might get me further down. As I see it, the prostate is the big risk...
