i think having a night vision scope/a lazar(laser) beam death ray/ and home made mega ass whupper 2-zillion grain powder and 2 zillion grain bullets would put cha over the edge as far as a JURY IS CONCERNED!

also carrying a RACE GUN......................would fer sure put cha over the edge with the JURY!

carrying a .460/.480/.500 would put ya over the edge also i would think. unless the bad guy is a BEAR or MTN LION!

carrying BLACK TALONS would be a NO NO because of dumass media B.S. surrounding them. thats why i carry sometimes remington golden sabres. designed also by guy who designed black talons, just NO MEDIA B.S. about golden sabres. golden sabres are KINDER /GENTLEER/HAPPY JOY JOY/GREEN HOLLOWPOINTS! snicker snicker har har.

better groups?

less recoil?

what lokal cops carry?

spoon happy with THOSE RDS ONLY?

comply with geneva convention?

Groupings, the 230's drop like stones. and just hit low while point shooting. Might be the pitch of my gun in my hand, but the lighter rounds just seem to do better for me. It;s all about comfort and knowing where they are going to go

No one will ever know the difference, Rick - especially anyone hit with one. A lot of guys get hung up on bullet weight. I think it's certainly a valid concern when hunting (with heavier almost always being preferable) or with lower powered self defense rounds that are a little bullet weight challenged anyway. But the .45 ACP? I think anything it sends down range is "gonna leave a mark...". I think it's more important to find a round your gun likes, shoots to the sights, and in which you have confidence. Sounds like you have done all of that.

So, I wonder - which particular platform are you using to launch these things? The only reason that I ask is that each and every 1911 I own (or have owned) shot the standard 230 grain ball load to its sights at 25 yards. Lighter bullets have always impacted much lower (they leave quicker, so the muzzle has not risen as high in recoil by the time they depart). Just curious as to what you have that shoots the 185's to its sights.

I like 200gr SWC's in my 1911 because they leave a nice round hole in the paper/cardboard targets and are more accurate than I am.

I shoot a lot of cast 200 grain SWC's just for that reason, Tom. They impact close enough to point of aim that it really doesn't matter, at least for plinking and paper punching. Plus, they are cheap. I can shoot .45 ACP for what most would spend on match .22 ammo. The 185's shoot really low, though, and I can't find a mold for anything that light, so that means expensive jacketed bullets.

I am not bashing law enforcement in any way so don't anybody twist my words into thinking I am saying that. It is a fact of numbers and space.
I also don't like the fact that you feel the right to be able to call me an idiot when in fact you do not know me in any way shape or form. I doubt very seriously you would be so bold as to do that to my face.
If this country ever goes completely crazy, I want no wimpy hand gun. I would want something real like this HK, a Porsche of personal guns:

Don't engage him/her. S/he's utterly deranged.

And please stop quoting...it defeats the point of the ignore list.

This is PARF. Please don't tell me what to do.

My mistake! This is not PARF! You can tell me what to do but don't expect me to comply.

The first part of my message was advice.

The second part was a request. I even said "please".
