I was parked in my cab and the perp was outside my car window-

Yes I have. Held right against the back of my head. I was a manger at a gas station doing the drag shift. 12.00am-6.00am. It was the early hours of a Monday morning. Two guys came in, one with a handgun. The other a baseball bat. I was 18. I remember saying at the time if I'd had gun I would have shot them. In retrospect, I'm glad I was'nt armed and did'nt shoot them. They got what they wanted and left. I was unharmed. They were arrested the following day and sentenced to 5 years for armed robbery. They were both 18 also.

So for you armed guys. What happens if you're in a store and a 12-16 year old kid walks in with a replica/toy and holds it up and you shoot him?

Obviously, you err on the side of caution, let him decide if you live or die and hope you get lucky.

BTW, per US law (I'm sure in every state), it's no less of an armed robbery if the gun used is a toy. It can even be a note saying he has a gun.

Well, your kid won't graduate to a real gun and rob or kill anyone else..

Cowboy personified. Is'nt your state one of the worst per capita for gun murders? Yeh, we can see how those laws are working.

Baz 08-29-2012 05:48 PM

Porwolf is a chick?

Does the "Por" stand for Porsche? And "wolf" for Wolf Henzler --- or just a wolf as in she likes them or has one as a pet.

Anyone? Just curious....

You're getting delusional. I didn't make the law. It's already the law here that anything resembling a gun used in the commission of a crime is treated as a gun....by the cops, the DA, the judge and the victims. It's not executing anyone to use deadly force in defense of life or limb. Man, where do you get this stuff? Have you ever defended yourself in any situation or just assumed the bad guy really didn't mean it and the cops would get there in time and sort it all out? Just wow.

You are right, of course. But when somebody makes a posting that puts the controversial CCW's in a good light inevitably it will result in Gun Control talk.

I don't choose to live where I need a gun to save me from the big bad world. If I did I'd move. I find it ironic that the very laws you so longingly covet are the same ones that see you live in a society you created and now need to arm yourself to protect you from that society....bizarre.

mossguy 08-29-2012 09:16 PM

This has become a very circular discussion/argument!

I don't live in such a place either. If I did, I'd move. I guess you're still safer than I am though, since you think nothing can happen to you and you'd do nothing about it if it did. Good luck with that.

Never said nothing can happen to me. But I don't let that rule my life. I can travel pretty much anywhere in Australia (cities), and I have, and never felt the need, or wished I had a gun. I bet the same cannot be said for America.

How is all those gun laws working in in Chi-Town??? About as well as other high gun law cities, only the bad guys have guns, and the innocents, in CCW states, we kill the bad guys..
Fl is doing well at killing purbs, and saving others from being robbed or killed..

BBC News - Nineteen shot in Chicago night of mayhem

Nineteen shot in Chicago night of mayhem

A Chicago 16-year-old killed by a drive-by shooting is laid to rest in June

Protests at Chicago's Nato summit Watch
US lessons on tackling gang crime
Nineteen people were shot in seven attacks overnight in Chicago, as the US city's gun violence epidemic continued.

Thirteen of the victims were shot within a half-hour period, including eight in a drive-by shooting on a single street.

Chicago officials have been battling a sharp increase in shootings and homicides, with some elected officials arguing gangs do not fear the police.

The city's murder rate has spiked 29% year-over-year as of this month.

By that time in 2011, 270 people had been killed in the city, according to data complied by the local newspaper RedEye Chicago. In 2012, that number is 348.

Most of the violence has been in Chicago's troubled south and west sides, but there also have been a handful of incidents in the downtown area.

Victims 'not co-operating'

Thursday's violence began shortly after 17:00 local time (22:00 GMT), when four men were wounded on the west side.

A drive-by shooting in the south side injured seven males and one female, ranging in age from 14 to 20 years. Then five people were wounded in three other shootings around the same time.

Early on Friday morning, a 17-year-old was shot in the back.

Andrew Holmes, a community activist, told NBC Chicago some of the injured were not co-operating with police.

"They need to step up and speak up for us," he said. "Nine times out of 10, they knew who was firing the shot at them."

It is not the first time this year Chicago has seen a single night of double-digit victims.

Over the Memorial Day weekend in May, 12 people were killed, and another 48 were wounded.

Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy has been criticised for eliminating police teams sent to crime hot spots.

Chicago's homicide increase is counter to lowered rates in other major US cities, including New York and Washington.

Let's forget Chicago for a moment here and look at bigger picture: The effect of the 2nd amendment, again:

You're an idiot. ....you write like a 13 year old in remedial class. And you have guns.....scary.

So Az has a low crime rate. But has a high per capita gun murder rate......

Has this made the citizens of Arizona, a gun-lover's paradise, safe? Well, the state ranked 7th in the country in per capita gun deaths, according to statistics, and eighth in terms of the overall rate of violent crime, according to Census data . And its lax gun laws spill over its borders. Arizona ranked 11th among the states in terms of number of crime guns supplied to other states per capita. Perhaps more shockingly, in 2009, Arizona provided more crime guns per capita to Mexico than any other state.

Oh and by the way....we don't have rabies in Australia.

That chart does not illustrate the effect of the second amendment.

This has been explained to you over and over and over.

Why is it that you can't understand?

Could it be that you don't want to understand?

What is the difference between the US and Great Britain when in comes to guns: The US has the 2nd amendment and Great Britain does not. I know you try to argue in Grat Britain they kill with knives. Are you trying to tell us they do that at the same rate that we kill with guns?
