So have you ever really flown First Class?

Emirates Airlines A380 First Class-Bangkok to Hong Kong - YouTube

I don't think you will ever see this on South West Airline.

I wonder what that 1st class ticket cost compared to the Economy class?

My brother has the platinum card, (or whatever they call it), on that airline. He says they are the best in the world. He would know, flying about 100k miles a year and been on almost every carrier on earth. They are based in Dubai.

About $1000 for the three hour direct flight first class from Bangkok to Hong Kong, round trip (as in the video)

1k is a good deal for that. I do Denver to San Fran a lot and it's about $875 for 2 hours and 45 mins, and United's first class looks like the coach class in the video.

I flew first class from HK to London on Cathay Pacific once. Booked business class from London to Osaka, then Tokyo to HK, then HK to London, but they couldn't get the timings right on the last leg so I paid GBP 300 extra to go First. Turned up at HK early, had a bath in the lounge - just for the sake of it. Flight was great, pyjamas, everything. The best memory though is of having crepes suzette cooked for me at my seat. Plebs up the back can't have lighters but they're flambeing away up front.

A woman I know was flying to Australia from LAX. A few hours into the flight she decided to get up and walk around and noticed a row of seats with only 1 guy sitting in it. She asked him if she could sit in one of the seats since she was cramped in her row which was filled.

He told her no problem, but when he got tired he would ask her to leave. He had bought all the seats in the row so he could stretch out and sleep. It was still cheaper than 1 first class ticket

Certain airlines (Probably Emirates and I think Singapore also) have equipped certain Airbus A380 aircraft with "Suites"

This guy in the youtube vid is really not that special

When I fly anywhere for work, if the flight is over 4 hours, or anywhere going out of the country, we always fly First.

Its not like it was back in the good old days but sure is nice...

About 15 years ago bought a "round the world" First class ticket on American. Headed out from London to Hong Kong, then on to Hawaii, then to Dallas where I lived. Stayed in each place 4-5 days. Price was far cheaper than even a business class ticket at that time. Was a very nice time...

I wonder if they refund your money if any of the little electrically operated gadgets fails to work properly?

I've heard that some of the asian airlines, like Singapore, compare to Emirates. But that's about it.

I've flown Emirates first class on Boeing 777ER and it was excellent. While not as fancy pants as the suites, it's still only 4 or 5 to a row with partitions, massaging seats that recline just about all the way, excellent food with real silverware, etc.

The flight attendant (a cute Australian chick with beautiful fair skin) spilled wine all over my pants the first time I went and they fixed me up with a free upgrade to first on my next booking of a coach ticket if the distance was the same or shorter.

The lounge at Dubai Int'l is also pretty cool. Concierge, good security, unlimited liquor, really good food, etc.

Never paid for 1st class, but got bumped a couple times. Once on a 747 red-eye from NYC to LA and the only two people in 1st class were me and Little Richard.

Fly Emirates a couple of times. Their F/A's are very nice and if you are nice and respectful you might end up with a phone number or two at the end of the flight.

The rest of the "happy ending" is up to you but I know its happened on my end.
