I echo the sentiments in the previous posts. I'm of the opinion that one should not try to over-analyse tragedy such as this, sometimes life just sucks. This is one of them. It's always sucking for someone, somewhere, but it really sucks when tragedy lands on your doorstep. I've absolutely experienced it and time heals all wounds, most of the way anyways.

Your daughter is lucky that she has such a sensitive, thoughtful guy like you for a parent. Many parents simply would not know what to do in this situation and therefore do nothing. I've seen it firsthand.

When you watch the TV shows, they get the reports back in a couple of hours... In real life, it can take up to six months. Same with DNA, etc.

Must be horrible for the family. Bad enough that this happened, but this just keeps stretching out the agony...

Yea, and on TV the computer expert can pound on the keyboard, never ever stop and hit backspace and never touch a mouse and enhance the video image to read the tag number on a car across the street from the reflection on a window. And the good guy can outrun the machine gun fire and never get hit.

Still a sad story. The report said he may have been intoxicated. Was that the reason he drowned if there were no physical injuries from the wreck? Was he familiar with the area and did he know the pond was there?

Yes, it is tragic... We don't know if he had been drinking and we do know that he was not at all familiar with that area...

I'm so sorry, I hope a little time is helping to heal daughter's emotional wounds.

A lot of people have the romantic notion that there is one true love for them, but this simply isn't true. People who have known love are actually much more capable of finding it again. It is important to cherish the memories of those we have loved, but to realize that their suffering is over, and that they would want us to go on and find happiness when we are ready for it.

They would not want us to be sad for a lifetime in an attempt to memorialize them. People are meant to be happy, and one day we can look up and see the sun is still shining, it is a beautiful day, and it is OK to smile and be happy about it. Those that love us the most would want this for us.

This is the seed of an idea that leads to a full life.
