Kremer utilized DP bodywork....remember, DP (Designer Plastics Automobilbau) made aftermarket bodykits and sold those parts/kits outside of their factory-built cars. Your car is a real-deal Kremer, but it's very likely that the DP factory did the bodywork. The rear, particularly, looks DP II.

I've never seen that particular front bumper treatment on a slantnose. It looks like they modified the factory bumper to integrate headlights. I can't find similar images anywhere.

DP is pretty active on Facebook if you think they can help with details.

I adore the old DP cars. Silly stripes and all.

It reminds me of the old VW&PORSCHE mags I used to ware the pages out of in the "80's.

81Kremer930 10-26-2012 11:20 AM

Most definitely old school, this car was built before i was born.. so, i really can't relate... the 80's for me was kindergarden and eagles music(my mom's a big fan)... I do remember the 83-84 GTI. Any and all input is appreciated and i am glad to show the car, I hope to find as much out as I can..

Great looking car. Keep it original.

And unless you want to rebuild the engine, DO NOT TURN UP THE BOOST! :)

Did they say 'dude' back in the early '80's?

I agree about not over-boosting it, but all he needs is an accurate, working boost gauge and the proper info to know when he's over-cooking it. I have no idea what the safe/rated boost is on his car, unless it's been significantly modded, I'd stay pretty close to stock, no?

81Kremer930 10-27-2012 05:51 AM

I have got to get one of those jackets!(prolly not).... however... the car is equipped with a large gauge where clock should be, the red needle is set at 1.2bar.... I'll prolly stay around 1 however.. I am not trying to hotrod it, just enjoy the ride.

sc_rufctr 10-27-2012 06:18 AM

Any chance of seeing the interior?

Great car BTW.

81Kremer930 10-27-2012 06:40 AM

I'll get some pics of the interior up when I can... I've been researching the factory intercoolers on these cars(stock 3.3L style).. any thoughts on upgrades?? Who's is the best, or does anyone know how i can get my hands on a Kremer full-width version, are they still made, anyone have one floating around?

I took out the dial-a-death knob on my 930. Shim the spring to .8-1 bar and make sure the waste gate is in working order. You are good to go. with these turbos, there is no such thing as enjoy the ride. Like it or not you will get on that boost. Sorry, you already have the crack pipe. Does it still have AC? A full bay cooler will require the AC compressor to be remove. Kokeln cooler will fit in the stock location with little mod. That's a must IMO. Change the header on back and you WILL have a different car. It will like you gain 50 HP due to faster spool up. Talk to the nut cases over at the 930 section on this board. They are a very knowledgeable crowd. I have not been there in a very long time.

81Kremer930 10-27-2012 10:46 AM

The car is bone stock from Kremer, still has r12 a/c set up, will be updated to r134a. The Fabspeed unit(intercooler) looks good, but i am not crazy about the cost or the shiny finish. We probably won't drive it much, I will leave the knob alone, it's a neat feature... and I want to keep the car as original as possible... but I would like it to perform well. We have an 08 Turbo Cab.... i feel certain that it probably wont run like that tho... the water-cooled cars are nasty.

Don't update the a/c unless there is a major problem. The r12 is colder and designed to work in that system.

Racerbvd 10-27-2012 11:39 AM

As others have stated, DOn"T Change it

Yeah, I was going to post Spicoli as well. We definitely said "dude" in 1980 in CA., way too much actually. :)

81Kremer930 10-27-2012 12:13 PM

I will try to do this.... I have a tech here at our store who has some I believe. He's more of a big-block Chevy kinda guy, but he respects and fears the flat6 turbos. I'll update pics as progress is made, I don't know a lot about these cars... so I feel certain the questions will keep on coming(from me).

speeder 10-27-2012 12:24 PM

That era of 911 was not exactly known for its stellar A/C performance, (to put it mildly), so R-12 would definitely be a good idea. I have no problem finding it here in SoCal and had no problem in Denver earlier this summer.

A930Rocket 10-27-2012 04:20 PM

Sounds like a boost gauge.

The rear end, with those numbers and letters, seem odd for an original car from Kremer or DP or ?. I'd take them off because they look an after thought. Just my 2c.
