NBC announces F1 broadcast team
Looks like the only change they will be making from Speed is that they are replacing Bob Varsha with Leigh Diffey. I'm just glad Matchett and Hobbs will still be on:

Thank God that I will not have to listen to Sam Posey anymore...
Really good to see Steve and David stay on... and sure wish that Peter Windsor would come back!

sorry Joe, that's the reason I tune in early - to catch Sam's prologue - (qual & race) - wonderful way with the English language and somehow always seems to catch the current nuances of what's going on at each venue. Bill K

You think he writes that stuff? I always thought it was the product of over-enthusiastic writers.

Coke vs. Pepsi I guess, I like the intro's. I like Varsha too, something about Diffey's voice or delivery that irks me. Hopefully I'll get used to it. Seems like a solid team, it could have been the tools from US Top Gear.

.... or the hillbillies from NASCAR. Imagine Larry McRoland or Darrel Walter doing F1?

I agree about Posey - I don't care who writes it, if it's on the DVR, I skip past his intros every time.

I laugh when I see calls for Windsor's return. The last couple of seasons that he was there would stalk the pits and grid with people avoiding him like the plague. His "got ya" questions were very off putting and folks just didn't want to talk with him. It was funny to watch but did leave a whole in the coverage. Kind of an embarrassment for speed channel. I agree and like Varsha alot. He's always been a gentleman and a diehard F1 fan for as long as I've been watching F1, Diffey's a bit over the top but still gets it done. Hobbs and Matchett, great Brit accents and know their stuff. Posey's voice takes a bit of getting used to but he's done it all and his intros before F1 races were pretty good. It's the GD F'ing advertising I hate.

Leigh Diffey gets excited watching paint dry. I'm not sure about his over-abundance of spirit in the delivery of his words. He is IMO, a bit over the top.

So will we be able to get F1 on the basic cable packages, or is it on some NBC channel that usually requires a "sports package"? Any of you penny-pincher guys checked into that? I'd like to slash my cable bill.
