Huge mouse or small rat?
I thought I had the squirrel problem fixed in the attic, yet there were still scratching noises once in a while. I set some rat traps, and voila.
Is this a large mouse, or a small rat? I'm thinking mouse based on the small feet and head shape. Keep in mind this is a rat trap, not a mouse trap... ![]()

Thanks Vash! I purposely didn't take a picture of the other side, as it was a bit rough. My sister (she had a pet rat when she was a kid) also confirmed it is a mouse.

If there is not too much of a mess, I will re-use the trap.

Mouse, in the past I have cought a bunch of them using that style trap with peanut butter as bait. Now we have a cat and I haven't seen a mouse in years.

My wife found an old trap with a mouse when she got out the Christmas decorations. She had my daughters (11 & 13) get it out from the corner and throw it away. They both thought it was cute.
That reminds me of a pet guinea pig that died (never get one) right after a snow storm. My daughters wanted me to bury it, but didn't feel like shoveling a foot of snow and a foot of frozen dirt. I put the shoe box in the shed and promptly forgot about it. Well, my daughters found it when they went to get the cushions for the outdoor furniture several months later. I don't think they will ever forget what they saw.

Mouse. I have killed many. The little bastages get in my garage, attic, finished basement, and pantry. I always use those traps (the mouse kind) baited with peanutbutter and then toss the whole thing. My neighbor told me I should use decon. "They eat it and go outside to die", he said. Now my garage reeks of dead critter. Never again...

One winter when I was a kid the basement of our old farmhouse developed an infestation of mice. My next-oldest sister and I tag-teamed trapping them. We got a nickel per mouse; have forgotten how many we caught, likely 30-some.
There were lots of cats around but they were all outdoor ones (didn't know there were any other kind). And of course we re-used the traps. Jim

Hell, around here, that's not even a big mouse. Our rats get traps like that caught on their lower lip and just run off.

Yeah, I know you guys are correct about several shacking up in my house... I suppose getting rid of these guys will be my mission before Christmas!
The funny thing is, is that my garage that houses the Porsches and other toys we care about has NO mice at all. I keep the entire building spotless and sealed up. I suppose a house originally built in the 30's kind of comes with the mice, though.

Get the sticky traps. The young mice don't weigh enough to set off the spring traps. Put a little dab of peanut butter in the middle.
