Poor guy thinks he's a liberal. He is coherent and makes sense, clearly he is a mislabeled and misguided conservative.
Thanks for the link.

LOL Doug. My closest friends are hard core liberals who also happen to own guns. They are not conservative by any metric I can conjure other than owning and enjoying firearms. Not saying all liberal love guns... I have many (non close friend status) acquaintances who fit the stereotype.

Thank you for the post & article OP. Hard to argue with.
But I'm sure both extremes can find fault with it.

Here's what I wonder about. The pro-gun argument consistently rails on about cosmetic items being banned. Just how long will it take the anti-gun movement to come to that same realization and start trying to ban the items that matter?
Maybe they'll regulate trigger pressure. Or the size of civilian ammunition. Or they'll start keeping track of how much ammo an individual buys per month? Maybe they'll regulate twist rate or muzzle velocity . The constant harping on irrelevant items may eventually lead to even more stringent controls that still won't increase public safety as much as it will interfere with what you can own.

Good article. Makes a lot of sense to me.
The problem is that guns and mass murder have always been an emotional issue. People don't want to try to understand logic they just want it to stop and some are willing to take extreme action to try and make that happen. If people want to kill other people and are not at all concerned about taking their own lives there is NO foolproof solution w/o significantly infringing on the rights and privacy of many good citizens. Society is in a death spiral and making good citizens into criminals overnight is just one step closer to the abyss! |

Excellent article.
So is this one, from another thread: Jew Without a Gun If the Los Angeles riots taught us anything, it’s that you’re a fool if you count on the authorities to protect you in times of civil chaos — in fact, at any time. In the end, only I can protect my family. I’m never, ever going to allow myself to be outgunned by the bad guys. All the gun laws that are on the books—and there are thousands of them—just make it that much easier for the barbarians to amass weapons and for law-abiding people like you and me to be at their mercy. If you outlaw weapons, as so many squishy liberals yearn to do — well then, only the state and the outlaws will be armed. Which leaves ordinary citizens at the mercy of an all-powerful government and a variety of merciless criminal subcultures.

He criticizes the NRA for stoking fear about Obama's 2nd term gun-ban agenda, but everything the NRA has warned about has already come to pass. He was laying low and waiting for the right crisis with maximum public sympathy.
The media doesn't discuss it, but Obama has done a lot of work with/for the Joyce Foundation (IIRC, he was a board member), which hands out George Soros' money to gun control groups. As a state representative and state senator, he voted for every single gun control bill and against every pro-gun bill, without fail. Hell, he even talked about "renewing the assault weapons ban" during the debates, and the media just glossed over it.

You really think that rational discussions are possible with 99% of the liberals out there?
