Anecdotal? There's nothing about a Glock that would cause that to happen.

Cartainly doesn't look like an exit wound from a handgun and there are no burns. Though I guess his hand could have been far enough away. Mayby it was spall from a target coming back?

Agree. I own one and there is nothing remotely dangerous about handling it if you practice basic gun safety.

I'm not buying a .45 wound, he would have a bit more than that, or a bit less hand as it were

Why on earth would you LIE about shooting yourself with a .45? He obviously did not shoot himself.

Maybe he took one for the gun-control team.

I dunno. If the muzzle was right up against the back of his hand, I could see how you could have a relatively small entry wound. The exit wound in his palm is larger. Your hand is only about 1 inch thick, so your not going to get much expansion or a large shock wave.

Looks like he's pretty lucky. I've seen GSWs to the hand that looked way worse. Missing bone. Nerve damage. Tendon damage. It can be a mess. Would be interesting to see the x-rays. But if he's posting this up on the internet, it sounds like he's being pretty nonchalant about the whole deal. I'm no gun owner, and I'm not sure he should be either.

His facebook post this morning is " anybody want to go shooting today?". I googled gunshot wound images, and many looked similar. Maybe he is full of shat, but maybe not. I"ll find out eventually.

Hopefully no one else was injured. I've seen 20 year cops do the same thing. It's sad when people don't respect the basic principles of safe gun handling.

That is the LAST guy I would want to go to the range with.

So , I finally talked with him today. He did in fact shoot himself in the hand point blank with his .45. He said he had counted how many shots he had fired, and was sure it was empty when he started cleaning it, and BAM!. He has a pin in his hand where he shot right through his finger.

Don't think I will be doing any shooting with him in the near future.

I always drop the mag, cycle then lock slide back then put it down on the table before I start anything. Like a religious ritual.

Never shot myself or accidental discharge...

He had BETTER NOT admit it was a 1911- you mean a hammer drawn back wasn't enough of a clue? Even the glock, couldn't he tell he was chambered when he started to pull the slide back to disassemble?

Idiot.

If you're "sure", no reason to double check, is there?

I still like this one...
Man Shoots Hat Off - YouTube

If it was a Sig P220 or the 1911, The slide should have locked back after the last round.

entrance wound in palm, exit wound in the back. you can see some muzzle flash on the palm along with explosive gas damage. the star shape on the back of the hand is from the skin tearing as the bullet exits.

nasty.

anecdotally, i've heard of guy shooting himself cleaning his glock. the reason i heard this might be a problem with glocks is that one must pull the trigger at some point to get the pistol apart. i am not an expert and i don't own a glock, so it might be crap.

still, the gun isn't clear if it isn't clear. twice or three times, in my book.
