Interesting how they can come up with numbers that haven't even been officially announced yet -- horsepower, torque, weight, 0-60 -- all are yet to be announced for the Vette

Car and Driver report 0-60 and write up on both the Audi avant and Vette. Audi release. Whats the point? Just for comparison of a smaller V8 in a much heavier, production car, wagon sleeper that hangs with the Godvette. No doubt we would expect the Vette to pull the numbers on a track but fun to think of a wagon vs. the Vette on the streets.

Further reminding me why I don't subscribe to C&D anymore. The S7 is $80k, the RS7 is going to be way more than that. The RS7 is a luxury sport sedan, the Corvette is a sports car. The Audi can theoretically hang with the Corvette because it has a twin-turbo V8 with 100 more HP than the Corvette. The cars really can't be more different, that comparison makes no sense.

If we want to throw out silly comparisons, I'll take the new S8 with the same 520 HP 4.0 twin-turbo V8. 0-60 in 3.9 while hauling my family. So what if it's the same price as two Corvettes?

OK. But funny to think some mom in an all wheel drive WAGON (not sports sedan) launches off the lights ahead of some guy in his new vette. Put both cars in the real world, wet roads, etc. and the Audi will kill it.

Matt- Comparisons are just that. Reminds me of someone I know and years back showed up to Willow Springs in a nicely tuned, bland color 944 turbo. The Viper boys were all out there and he ate them up. Some were P.O. and complained of his moded out V8....! No, he actually had 6 less cylinders and whole lot less displacement. BTW: It was his almost daily driver car.

A magazine did a test with a new Honda Odyssey vs older sports cars and the numbers were amazing. The new Honda minivan was faster and handled better than most older sports cars. So seeing an Audi wagon post good numbers does not surprise me.

So why not compare wagon to wagon?

It's called a Cadillac CTS-V wagon, and it also has a force-fed V8 making 556hp. Similar numbers all around. Except it's not AWD, and *is* available with a real manual transmission, and would smoke the RS7 Avant around a proper race track. For a lot less money.

Remember, the C7 "Godvette" you're posting is just the base model. There will be more powerful variants.

Cadillac CTS-V wagon would be a hoot. Almost all the Corvette power and handling wrapped up in sleeper package.

^^^^ Now were talking. Soccer mom's battle it out on the Nurburgring. Sorry, but the Corvette is way over glorified when GM has a wagon like that! Have to admire Cad greatly for that project.

"We can confirm that during routine testing, a Stingray was involved in a one-car accident. During evaluation, due to driver error the inside tire caught the edge of the pavement during a tight corner, leading to the accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, the car received only minor damage, and no citations were issued."..... think it might be the blue car in the above video.....

Soon enough, we'll be seeing lots of them on the road...mostly driven by white haired guys my age...God bless 'em for that...buying the car they couldn't afford when young.

not the same driver.....We can also confirm that test driver Jim Mero (Nurburgring ZR1 driver) was not driving the Laguna Blue Corvette Stingray at the time of the accident. [PIC] 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe Crashes in Arizona

It seems like whenever a new high performance car is introduced, someone (usually a journalist) tries to take it to the limit and does some damage. Recently I think it was a one of kind Jaguar that was damaged by a ham-fisted journalist. Always seems to happen.
