The whole purpose of typing something into the box on a forum such as this, is to communicate. Whatever you type will communicate something to the person who reads. The perception the reader has, may or may not be what you intended.
Most attempt to be honest in their efforts to communicate. Some are masters of dis-information. Some are just as pitifully equipped to communicate as they seem. Welcome to the Internet world. Best Les

And never ever use the words "to be". It's not "it needs to be repaired" It's "It needs fixed". Not "it needs to be painted" It's "it needs painted"....makes me crazy...

I find myself cringing when encountering errors in writing and think it's vaguely poor form to point them out. I can't say it's not tempting (and perhaps I have done it) but if the message gets through accurately, fine. If not, it seems best to just ask for clarification. A reasonable exception for giving someone a "pass" might be made for those attempting condescension.
I find most of my writing/spelling errors occur when trying to write while spun-up about an issue. It's tough to be eloquent when verging on cerebral hemorrhage. |

I have a relative very close to me that mixes up common words when typing.
As much as I WANT to correct her,er that person, I don't for fear of getting sent to the doghouse. It absolutely drives me nuts when I see it, though. As for the proposal I referenced in an earlier post- would any of YOU give a possible client a proposal with spelling/grammar errors? I think not, Sirs!
