Coworker Murdered Last Night.

CC cannot come fast enough to that land of murder here in Illinois. A coworker of mine, who I've known for about 10 years, wife and mother of three was shot and killed last night getting out of her car at home. It was an attempted robbery gone wrong. She probably resisted. Not saying she would have been packin', but these days, around here the perps are guaranteed you aren't. Very sad, sweet girl.

I'm sorry for your loss of a friend. It really sucks when bad things happen to innocent victims. Our hearts cry out in pain and our minds call out for justice. I hope you are able to find peace until the justice is achieved.

Sad and very sorry to hear. Probably not the right time for disccussion of gun measures during your mourning but I've mentioned it before about todays perps.

These are different bred animals today. Hand over your purse, wallet, car whatever and they still will shoot. Illinois lawmakers are so ass backwards in thinking that gun controls against good citizens is the answer. Instead, they have failed to CONTROL the rodents and POS gangbangers, including minors running around with guns. When they do get caught, some judge usually gives them a slap sentence and the minor are back out there in no time. Bring back capital punishment and any gun shooting used in a crime puts you swiftly in line for lethal injection. This goes for minors.

Another coworker has an inside source saying several arrests have been made. Two young men and a young lady. Can't wait to see the mugshots, curious if they match what I'm imagining.

Of course we all know that some of the "may issue" states are effectively "no-issue" states, like CA NJ HI MA, at least if you live in the big cities where most of the population is.

So, I categorized the states into "can get a CCW" and "cannot get a CCW". Can get means the average person (i.e. not a felon, illegal alien, mentally ill, etc) can get a CCW, either it is a shall-issue state or it is a may-issue state with very permissive standards. Cannot get means the average person cannot get a CCW, either it is IL or it is a may-issue state where you have to have connections or live in the boonies to get a license, like CA NJ etc. By the way, the great majority of the US states are "can get".

Then I calculated the 2011 murder rate per 100,000 people for "can get" and "cannot get" states. The former is 4.204. The latter is 4.214.

The state with the lowest murder rate (HI) is a "cannot get" state. The state with the highest murder rate (LA) is a "can get" state.

By the way, I live in a shall-issue state and have a CCW.
