Golden rule for me is "Less talk, less mistake"...I've mastered the art of sign language (OK sign or thumbs up), every time I'm asked;

1. How is the food?
2. Can you go shopping with me? - Benches inside the malls are made for men Good thing there a thing called iphone or ipad so you can check out what the latest topic or whats for sale at the used section here at PP

I'm pretty good a lying when I want to, but I don't do it in general because I don't want to and don't want to put myself in a position to have to - especially where my wife is concerned. Guess it's something I've just gravitated to over time. Sometimes you just have to not comment, but lying & being found out or being perceived as not being sincere brings up issues.

This'll fix any bad food

Just load it on like there's no tomorrow.

Then you don't have to lie to anyone.

It's Sricaca or Louisiana Hot Sauce for me! Makes anything taste cajun.

Sounds a lot like my ex. But my kids are actually quite helpful.

You have to be kidding, right? I'd take my own life before I'd do this around my place. I have a good understanding wife but I'll not get into honesty about cooking.
Nah, not kidding. We're pretty open. I actually enjoy cooking, and I like trying new things. The arrangement I made with my family is if I cook something that sucks, we toss it and go get pizza. Along that same vein, if my wife makes something horrid (very rare occurence), I'm not gonna tell her it's delicious because then she'll make it again! Ya just gotta learn how to tell her it's crap without inflicting too much damage to her ego.

Funny that my little kids do not eat too much of her food. When they go to my parents, they will woof all of their food down during dinner. They are only 5 and 7. She knows it. They tell her they don't really don't like her cooking

It's, of course, refreshing to know that this approach works for somebody. Most of us here probably can't get up the nerve to try it though.

Sometimes kids don't like to it at home as much as eating somewhere else. My kids love to go to my brother's house and their kids love to go to my house. Many of us, adult guys, like to eat somewhere else too right?

Wait, we're still talking about food, right?

I find a can of reddi wip and chocolate can fix just about anything.

It truly saddens me when I hear that men have to lie to their wives for this reason or that. How sad.

I'm completely honest...and so is my better half. Which is why our relationship is so fantastic. If your wife can't take some criticism, perhaps she needs to talk to a shrink. There is a HUGE difference between being honest (what you are doing) and being deliberately mean for the sake of hurting her feelings. If she can't discern between the two, she has issues and needs help. If you have to lie to placate her, you aren't doing her, yourself or your relationship and favors.

Continue being honest and truthful.

Well it's because I know people like this, and I think it's sad that they can't be honest about the smallest of things...these white lies.

ps: I'm brutally honest to a fault...but under the right circumstances, I'd probably fib (or withhold disclosure) in order to protect someone else's feelings, etc. But it would be a RARE occasion...can't remember the last time.

Hydrorocket is right on with with his approach about her cooking. I asked my wife and she says that a husband should be gentle about how he approaches her regarding dishes he does not like. Just put that into words....

Vash should get a whipping for his white lies....that is justice for you!

This. I am a charming guy, so I can afford to be honest.

My wife is a very good cook. She does take input as well, so she is only getting better over the years.

No mall trips for me. We do split on activities that are not a common interest. Works out great.

Most men learn at a very young age that women can not process the truth as we see it. In order to protect their feelings as well as our own self intrests it is best not to be completely truthful.

Men know this and women don't want to think its true...
