In my opinion, there are already waaaay too many people in this world who think it's their right to tell everyone else what to do.
As if they are somehow more enlightened than everyone else and self-appoint to make everyone else's decisions. People like that make me sick. Bunch of poser loosers who are so insecure in their existence that they are constantly searching for some BS cause to make them feel just a little less insignificant. Maybe they should focus on what they do and how they live their own lives and let everyone else do the same thing. I don't believe there is a reasonable excuse for killing whales, so I don't kill whales. I don't go around forcing my BS opinions down everyone elses throat trying to make them to do what I think is right. If I feel it should be illegal, I contact my elected legislative officials and suggest that they pass laws. If it is not illegal, I don't decide to make up my own rules and break the law in the process. See how that works? BTW, question for the "enlightened few": why is it OK to kill some fish and not others? same question for mammals. Why is it OK to kill a cow but not a whale? What's the difference between a turkey and a dolphin? they're both mammals and made out of meat. And before ya jump in with the pre-programmed liberal response of "they're more intelligent" .... than what? What'd they score on an IQ test? What's the minimum IQ score before something stops being dinner and all the sudden becomes untouchable? Pigs are very intelligent and are easily trained, but just about everyone loves bacon. The whole argument stinks of BS. |

mmmm...turkey.
what about sheer numbers? there is a freakin INFESTATION of pigs..in farms, in the wild, in stockyards. lucky they all have sides covered in delicious bacon. dont get me starting on the shoulder meat. dolphins and whales, not so plentiful. if the oceans were infested with swimming mammals, maybe the whaling bans could be lifted? personally, i wouldnt kill a whale or dolphin, but i am curious what it taste like. i mean, what is the fuss?

That one was worth a screen capture.
But to answer the question, there's millions of turkeys and cattle; they're farmed in a manner such that the existence of the species isn't threatened. The same cannot be said for whales. ![]()

"Banned by international treaty"???!!LOL. Did Japan sign the treaty? If not, in international or Japanese waters, whales are "fare" game

Buy them, sell them

That's just it: they're not whaling in international waters.

Burger King used to have a sandwich called a "whaler"...yumm. Then they changed the name to a politically correct "big fish." Now it is the "premium something or another"...which apparently means smaller and on a harder bun.

Sammy the world has been made by people who have the guts and determination to stand up for what they believe in, sacrificing personal comfort and safety. I'm not one of them, but my hat is off to this willing to make those sacrifices, and we definitely need more of them, even if they don't fit your very narrow view of what the world should look like.

It's interesting following this Pelican discussion. Lots of different perspectives, but mostly the same people saying the same old stuff but now with whales as the currency.
Fwiw, the Ady G was a cool boat. Wave piercing, ran on Biodeisel, and I remember seeing it in its Silver and outrageous 'Earthrace' original form when it was undergoing its final testing in the Viaduct, Auckland before it set sail on it's ill fated circumnavigation. He invited the public on board to see and learn. Bethune was/is a character, and much can be written about him. Balls to do what he did though. More than most of us would dream of. I was saddened to see it scuttled in the icy waters. I don't think we as humans need to hunt whales at all. Enough alternative and more productive sources off food. To hunt these animals is arrogant.

Fair call. Now who is going to address the flying mammal issue to those who are curious. No green font allowed.
Obvious bat exceptions. And squirrels.

What if an Indian guy comes up to you to fcuk with your steak dinner because you are eating cow? It is Ok to breed cow for eating but not dogs? I hope the Sea Shepard sinks and kills everyone on board.

Harvesting versus clear cutting to extinction......that is a problem.
The problem is regulating the clear cutters. Harvesting fins, horns or other items and tossing the rest to rot?.......you don't have a problem with that?
