Tell me about it, but I consider myself luckier than lots.

- Have to watch fat/cholesterol ingestion. No pills required if I watch this.
(Have to take statins. I think they affect my memory somewhat.)
-Alcohol intake -can't take more than one a drink a day otherwise I feel crappy. Genetic disposition on my father's side. (Not interested in drinking much anymore. I do have a little wine, scotch, bourbon once in a while, but if I get even a little buzz I notice it the next morning.)
-Can walk/hike no problem. Running hurts knees except on fresh snow.
(hiking/walking no problem. But my knees are worn out so I haven't been able to run since early 40s.)
- Growing intolerance for young fashion.
(Ditto, plus I generally have no interest in any kind of fashion at all.)
- Not a lot of patience. Have a slow fuse though.
(Not as patient, but have a decent amount of age related tollerance.)
- Hardly drink coffee but prefer tea but that is more of a taste thing.
(Never was a coffee drinker, but do dring a mug in the morning for something hot to drink.)
- Can't pee that well - enlarged prostate.
(Sofar no problem here.)
- No tolerance for liars, crooks, aggressive people or folks with a sense of entitlement.
(Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto.)

If I put in a day of good physical work, I can feel it in the evening. I put in a day of brush & scrub oak cutting on the slope above my house yesterday & slept well last night. Unfortunately the process of cutting, dragging, shredding/burning & cleaning up will be several days to finish. I tell myself the exercise if good.

- Pee more often and it takes longer, but after a couple weeks of holding a stopwatch as I pee'd, I've decided it is silly to be bothered by this - I mean, at least I'm not a woman
- shamefully drawn to skinny jeans, man card revocation threatened
- About to start the annual rectal probes

That's about it so far. In general, I feel better (physically, mentally) than I did ten years ago. But the hair thing bugs me . . .
Just shave your head. Soon as my hair started to show signs of thinning, I told nature to F**k off and went from paying a barber to take care of my head to paying Gillette to keep it smooth. You'd be surprised how many chics dig a dude with a chrome dome...

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my nearsightedness the most. I have perfect eyesight for anything just a little beyond my outstretched fingers. My birthday is tomorrow. As long as I keep having them, I'll be ok...

Don't tell me that this is turning into a nursing home BBS. I knew that we're an older demographic, just not that old...

Great list. I'm about 9 years behind you but have gone ass over teakettle for a healthier lifestyle as my mortality becomes more evident.

Curmudgeon? maybe.

Older, wiser, and usually right? maybe

Highly opinionated and resilient to disagreement? definitely!

I can walk 5 miles without problems. I smoke cigars. I take medicine for HBP. I drink beer often, and a nice Jack at times, I can walk 18 holes carrying a bag of clubs on a hilly course in 90 degree weather, work on my Porsche, mow the grass, mulch the lawn, and whatever there else there is. But if I know things, I'll pass away in the nest 5 years.

I've had kind of a rough life health wise. I joke that I am completely out of my nine lives and can't afford another big issue. Here is my nine lives (what I should have died from) laid out for you;
-1) Senior year of high school following some buddies at night and was hit by a freight train. I looked down the tracks but only saw black. The 45 MPH train was so close, I was looking at it's front hitch and couldn't see the high mounted light.
-2) 23 years old got stage 3 hodgkins lymphoma and had 6 months of 5 days a week radiation treatments.
-3) 28 y/o had a reoccurance of hodgkins and had 4 months of weekly chemotherapy
-4) 30 y/o developed a blood clot in upper chest about 2 inches from lung
-5) 38 y/o one of the chemotherapy drugs I had 10 years earlier caused congestive heart failure. The first day in the hospital, I lost 15 lbs of fluid from my chest and abdomen (picture 2 gallon milk containers on a 170 lb guy) and my heart was beating at 13% efficiency.
-6) 41 y/o another bought with CHF not as bad this time
-7) 46 y/o another round of chemotherapy for what appears like an early detection of hodgkins for the third time.
-8) 47 y/o Guy ran a stop sign and creamed me and my 83 Porsche 944. Ended up with shattered pelvis (10 breaks), 4 broken ribs, cracked sternum, broken foot, and lacerated liver.
I got 5 months at home for this one, had to learn to walk again on the reconstructed hip with a plate, pins and screws in place, and have been back to work now for 2 months.
-9) 47 y/o For sitting around inactive after surgury, I got numerous blood clots in both legs and abdomen.

I'm ready for crap to start happening to someone else, and my getting old has me concerned on several fronts. To look at me and to talk to me, you would never know any of this stuff has happened, i'm thin, somewhat in shape, and barely look 40.....no grey hair or nasty limp.

I believe my wife and I will have to move somewhere in the SW of the country or go to Arizona for the Winter to get away from the cold wet Winters of NW Ohio. I will gladly trade any of you for your aches and pains, but you have to take everything I have to trade to be fair.

1. Some heads look great bald, and then there's mine. Says the only woman whose opinion matters.

2. Anyone in the thread who is 30 y/o - had best be serving drinks, dancing, or fetching my walker.

Meh, I have a car that has me beat by a year
I realize I'm not old in the grand scheme of things but, 28 sure as hell isn't 18... Stuff is starting to break out of warranty.
