Electro-static shock

Just touched the door. Hmmm, must be a north dry wind today...

Zap!

At home my chair is covered in microfiber that looks like leather. Great covering except when the weather is dry that sucker makes a static charge that HURTS. I take my car keys out of my pocket and jump the spark off of my key to a ground source and the spark will jump almost two inches. POW!

I drag my feet across the carpet before kissing my wife. Shows her the "spark" is still there

Guy, that would hurt me as much as her. Better to hold a key and zap her on the butt!

HAHA, good one! I've worked around/with electronics all my life, so I've been zapped for real a few times (was 10 the first time)...a little static electricity is nothing

Back in physics class in college, of course we had a Vandergraff (sp?) generator in the classroom. We used to have fun every once in a while with it. If there was some guy really engrossed in something and not paying attention. We'd line chairs up from the generator to him, stand on the chairs, fire up the generator, & join hands. The first guy in line would put his hand on the top of the generator, & the last guy in the line would touch the poor guy who was emersed in concentration on the ear lobe.

Be a fun physics problem to show a balance of energy of static spark v. energy to create such...

A "fun" one we used to do in the Army...

Every heard of a TA-312? It's basically a point-to-point telephone that when you wanna call the other end, you spin the crank on your phone. That generates electricity to send down the wire to the other end, making it ring. I don't remember the exact voltage/amp output of this charge...anyway, it's always fun to watch for the guy on the other end to get ready to install the wires onto his phone, and then send him a quick jolt while he's holding the wires.

Or, a little "meaner" version...in Somalia, we had a guy on a remote site who was by himself with his communications shelter. One night, some Somali's came into his "camp," held him at knife point while they stole a bunch of crap (food, copper wire, etc.). After being resupplied, he laid in wait for them to come back. When they did, he of course had his rifle at the ready and took them prisoner. He then placed them all in a metal conex, put a little bit of water at the bottom, then ran the wire for a 312 into the conex, and started cranking away. It's already a nice jolt you're getting from this device; when you add water to the mix, it's downright torture. He did this to them for 3 days until somebody came to resupply his food and found what he was doing.

We used to do the same but, with a megaohm meter...

Of course we also used to charge small caps and then toss them to a "buddy", heh heh.
