Dealing with dictators while on the job is one thing. I was thinking of the close personal relationship the two had, years after she had been ousted. He'd always send her chocolate and flowers on his UK visits and when Pinochet was in the UK during his legal battle to avoid extradition to Spain for human right abuses, Mrs. T. visited him, giving him support and making absurd comments (as I recall) about him having brought democracy to Chile.

Have a read of this.

South Africa: "Cameron disowns Thatcher's policy on apartheid" (ANC not terrorists) | Margaret Thatcher Foundation

In case you don't bother I'll give you a 30 second run down.

Her policy on Apartheid has been disowned by her own party. She refused to back sanctions against South Africa, thwarting efforts on a global scale at the time. She invited PW Botha to the UK in 1984, the first visit by a SA premier since leaving the Commonwealth in 1961. She ignored the plight of millions of black people.

And people like you Doug as in your statement about the Soviet Union, excuse all this callous, anti-democratic behaviour in the name of fighting Soviet Communism.

More shame on you.

An enemy of the state? Yours? Or a despicable regime that afforded him no more rights than a dog just because of the colour of his skin.

Thatcher said she did not back the sanctions for the reasons that it effects the lower classes negatively. She did not say she was pro-apartheid.

The other reasons sanctions would fail is because of the great natural resources of South African (Gold, Diamonds, Etc.).

The ANC is as despicable as anything the apartheid supporters were guilty of. Neither side has clean hands. You've heard of necklacing, yes?

Yeah, ordinary decent criminals who only wanted to be treated as political prisoners.
Murders, bombers, extortionists, gangsters, drug dealers, and cowardly thugs.
This is a list of the ones who (permitted by the godfathers) committed suicide.

Bobby Sands IRA - Possession of a handgun
Francis Hughes IRA - Various offences, including the murder of a soldier
Raymond McCreesh IRA - Attempted murder, possession of a rifle, IRA membership
Patsy O'Hara INLA - Possession of a hand grenade
Joe McDonnell IRA - Possession of a firearm
Martin Hurson IRA - Attempted murder, involvement in explosions, IRA membership
Kevin Lynch INLA - Stealing shotguns, taking part in a punishment shooting
Kieran Doherty IRA - Possession of firearms and explosives, hijacking
Thomas McElwee IRA - Manslaughter
Michael Devine INLA - Theft and possession of firearms

What would you think if I said that Tim McVeigh should not have been sentenced to death, but should have been treated as a "political" prisoner?

Is that it? Is that the best you can do?
What an insightful comment.
I gave a comparison of one murdering scumbag to a group of other (some of them) murdering scumbags.
So, because I hold that mirror up to you, you automatically bet that I hero-worship another murdering scumbag from the "other" side. FFS.
