Has the ammo bubble burst? Or at least started to?

Seeing lots of second hand sellers dropping their prices in the last few days. More on the market too.

Thoughts?

I am seeing the resellers starting to lower their prices. These are the guys at Walmart sitting on their deliveries. I think that they're starting to get nervous. There is downward pressure.

As for prices, I doubt we'll see anything pre-SH anytime soon, but better than what it has been.

Indeed. I have been to stores and it starts to look normal again, except for prices being on the high side still.

Things are getting back to normal. Traffic is down but good. Supplies are coming in but slowly. Silly as it sounds .22 is the hottest commodity at this point. Can't get it..can't keep it in stock when we do.

I don't consider going from only being able to find .270 Win to being able to find that AND 7mm much of an improvement.

Still can't find any handgun calibers and only the two above rifle calibers.

Plenty of centerfire on most LGS shelves. At somewhat inflated prices.

Shotgun ammo never surged as far as I could tell.

Rimfire is still hard to find and outrageously priced.

I'm yet to understand that. Why the run on .22?

Our local Walmart is still bare, I need to stop by Cabelas and see if they're doing any better.

I haven't bought anything since the prices went up. I also stopped range practice.

No slacking up around here, none of the "major" calibers (9mm, .40, .380, .38, .357, .223, .22, etc.) to be found anywhere. The local big box sporting goods store no longer keeps a spot on the ammo aisle shelf for them, any received shipments go straight to the customer service counter to be doled out with a one box per customer limit. Even the shooting ranges don't have ammo to sell to range customers.

$0.15 per round for 22's? Wow. Last time I bought them they were 1/3rd that.

My town has a 6-8 week wait for new spoon licenses. Since January, 258 applications have been submitted -- I suspect they did less than that in the past 3 years combined.

Interesting how hot topics can have such an impact on their respective markets. Business is business...

Its typically cheap, you typically shoot a lot of it on a range trip, and its FUN

Pre-hysteria prices, you could get 500-555 rounds of 22lr in various bulk pack forms for $23 or so. 45acp was 40 cents per round for ball ammo, and common but not often bought ammo like 44 magnum or 10mm was about 50% more. 223/5.56 (AR food) was 30 to 40 cents per round, and milsurp 762x51 was 50 to 60 cents per round.

When I take my son to the range, we'll go thru a brick (500 rounds) of bulk stuff in about 4 hours of shooting. By comparison, if I just go and am working on accuracy with my bolt gun, I may go thru 200 rounds in that time.

Hmmmm. Post Obama 2008, 22LR went from about $7 for 500 to about $15. Was it $23 last year? What is it costing now? $0.15 per round? Seriously?

When I was in boy scouts, we'd pay $0.10 for ten, and that was a rip-off!

I don't think it was that high. Maybe 3 out of 100.
