What was Diffy saying yesterday? "Pre-practice?" When is *practice?*

I didn't mind the guy so much until yesterday. He went on and on about the [u]secret[/i] Mercedes tire test. He was apparently pissed that he didn't get a press release about it. Nor did anyone else, but he took it upon himself to denounce the whole thing.

FU, Diffy. We were definitely spoiled by Varsha. Varsha could talk politics w/o being political.

Oh well, Diffy is better than Marty Reid. That guy was so befuddled at the Belle Isle race on the first lap that he didn't say a word until about the 4th corner. By then, Goodyear had to tell him who passed who.

Grid penalties

Kimi and Ricicardo sent back 2 places for infractions after red flag. I always thought red flag meant stop, wait for instructions where and when to proceed. Don't touch the cars, leave everything alone., Behave!!

How could they all just go to their garages and change tires and such?? Strange.

And then head down pit lane 4 cars wide??

Red flag means stop, off line in view of the next flagging station.
Why don't these guys know the rules?
Looking forward to the race.

Didn't one of the podium finishers pass over yellow without a penalty? I guess some drivers get to drive under different rules........

I think Alonso did.
Matchett pointed it out during the race.
Curious to see what happens.

I just got to watch the race here in Pompeii, with the half Italian/ half English desk man at our hotel. It was Broadcast in Italian so he did some interpreting for me.
Interestingly Ferrari centric experience as you can imagine.

I knew that the broadcast was to start at 8pm, but went out for dinner at the corner restaurant , It ended up being kind a fine dinning affair. The kind where try to make it a nice whole evening for you, leisurely pace with plenty of time to enjoy each course. Mid way through the meal I realized it was 8:20 and counting. So I was trying to pick up the pace and thay were giving me a puzzled look and kind of scratching their heads as to what the problem was. So I told them about missing the race. They both brightened imidiatly and said go Ferrari and hurried the bill to me. Complete understanding!

My host really enjoyed seeing Alanso close in on and pass Hambone for second!

Cheers Richard

Canadian GP: marshal killed in crane accident

The FIA has announced that a Canadian Grand Prix marshal has died following an incident at the Montreal track on Sunday.

The marshal was helping to retrieve Esteban Gutierrez's crashed car following the race when he tripped while trying to retrieve a dropped radio and fell under the wheels of a mobile crane.

The marshal could not be seen by the driver of the crane, and was run over - suffering serious injuries.

After being taken to the circuit's medical centre he was transferred by helicopter to the Sacre-Coeur hospital in Montreal for treatment in its traumatology department.

However, despite all efforts to help him, the marshal succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.

It's officially called Free Practice, perhaps that's what you heard. FP1, FP2 and FP3.

I like Varsha better too. Diffy gets a little too excited at the smallest thing. "Did you see that!!!!! The grass is growing outside turn 3!!!!!"

And how many times per race does David Hobbs say "there's no doubt about it?"

A sad reminder to all of us who work the track to be aware of what's going on around us.

It happened after the race, on the straight road to the garage areas. Nothing to stumble on - smooth, straight, level road. It's sad and also inconceivable that this even happened. It is truly bizzare.
