There was a time when parking them on the street in this town was just not possible. The car would disappear. Not so much any more. I've used mine as a dd for the last three years and it's just not been problem.

That said, it's important to note, I think, that no matter what you drive, it is foolish to leave anything at all inside the car - sunglasses, anything. Do that, the bad people will break a window and take it. Lots of reports of people dumb enough to leave laptops, iPhones, iPads, purses, wallets and more in plain sight. Those things evaporate.

Yeah, but you can only fit so many groceries in the Vette

I used to park the 944 with the windows down...freaked my friends out "you are going to leave it like that?!?"

If I remember rightly it's $642 a year. I don't pay that tho as I have storage insurance for the winter months. That also gives me $5 million liability. The catch is I have would have to fight with the insurance company for the value of the car.

Please don't be so cavalier about inviting an excuse for an insurance claim. Insurance has become the law and we have to have it just to get plates. My collector friends in Michigan seem to be very reluctant to claim even significant damage on their collector policies. We appreciate the favorable rates and dread to have to pay higher premiums. Recently I hit a deer (Actually the big whitetail was spooked and most of the damage was to the side of the front fender,) and out of respecet for my insurance company I paid the tab. Thought it would be a small bill as the parts were only $226.00. However, add a $560.00 shipping bill and red paint at $146 a pint and the craftsman's time and it was over $2k. Then, my company went totally ballistic and with my safe driving record of over 35 years, basic liability for one car came in at almost $1500. I live in a very rural area. Sadly, my long time loyalty to AMICA insurance has come to an end.

Out of respect for my insurance company - that's a new one. You mean the insurance industry that will take your money for decades then drop you when you make a claim? The industry that has a track record of using any loophole possible to get off of the hook for paying? I say eff them, there are few more corrupt industries in our nation.

Leave unattended... lol all the time but lets be honest. P-car is a huge spread from daily drivers like my little 44S to the 260k GT2RS and beyond. I'd have to get to at least the SC 911 level before I cared about parking unattended it would still be mostly a non issue for me. If ****'s going to happen it's going to happen, why bother worrying about it.

I was thinking about this thread last night. I was in the west end of Toronto for a concert and didn't want to pay the usurious parking rates at the venue ($20) so I ventured a bit away to a municipal lot. Well, it was partially cutoff because of a construction site, very empty and very out of site. I knew I'd be there till at least 11pm, so I moved to street parking in a more visible area. So yeah, I guess sometimes I *do* think about where I park it!
