You don't know that. Not to keep the morbid discussion going, but it could have been a quick snap of the neck, and I would say that would be more likely in a modern car like a GT3 with its airbags. He was probably not wearing a HANS device. Allan Simonsen was not mangled, he suffered too many g's from hitting a tree. I know personally I wouldn't want to be an invalid for years before finally giving it up.

"...more likely & probably...", eh?
A car crash - not a way I'd like to go. BTW, more likely & probably I would not love it. Sorry to hear about your loss of a friend.

WRT the heart attack at the track, we had this same thing happen around 10 years ago. This is why we mandate the it you go off and are OK, put your arm out the window. If not, the track goes yellow or red and we investigate.

I don't want to be morbid, but every time I read about, hear about, or see an accident, I like to know details of the event. Every time a man loses his life behind the wheel of an automobile it is a reminder that it is the things we don't know, or cannot know or control that get someone killed.
When you are ready, think about the opportunity you have to share with us the nature of the accident and how we might avoid the same situation. Great sympathy for your loss, and thoughts go to the family.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your comments, I appreciate. For those who would like to learn from that experience ; My friend was on Circuit Mont-Tremblant, north of Montréal, Québec, Canada. Nice sunny day, club race. He did wrong coming in turn 6, but we don't exactly what and how, but he lost control of the car. He hit the wall on the side of the car at around 100 mph. He was wearing a full face helmet, a Hans device, A racing suit, a 6 points harness and the car had a GT3 RS half cage. He died from a broken neck because of the lateral force on his neck. The seats were the GT3 buckets. If he had a seat with more lateral support on each side of the helmet, we think he will had survived... It was the first death in 35 years on this track, it's really a sad accident that was having very very minor chances to happen but it did... Be careful and enjoy your Porsche ! JD

Thanks for the update RS. It seems so unfair. He had all the boxes ticked. But I guess that's racing for you.

Thank you for filling us in on the details.
I'm sure there is a deep seeded concern by all when we hear of such things happening.

Some may think the following is harsh, however.
It was a quick and most likely painless way to go, he lived his last moments doing what he (probably) loved most, and didn't know it was coming until the instant he lost traction. If there was a way to choose, this is in my top 3. Your friend will respectfully be in my thought and prayers.
