any personal experience with UFOs??

I've known a few people who swear they have seen them.. These are intelligent, educated people, I know them well enough to not question their sanity..

I have no problem with people claiming to have seen UFO's. I have a problem with people claiming the UFO is an extraterrestrial space craft just because it cannot be explained (see the "Ghost" thread.)

I don't have any direct experience with them, but plenty of credible people have. Men the age of our fathers... many who are military veterans, airline pilots, law enforcement... trained to observe and evaluate what they see because their job required it. Fairly close daylight sightings, some of them... not just bright lights in a night sky.

Men for whom it is not in their nature to make stuff up for attention. Some who were told they could never talk about what they saw, but who have been coming forward in recent years. Some only speak about it on their death bed.

UFOs Fact or Fiction?

I saw one and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I was sitting on my deck in Branford, CT (Short beach) overlooking Long Island Sound. It was about 10:00 p.m. September 2009 and I was having a couple of beers with my younger brother and sister.

It was a clear beautiful night and the stars were out. I glanced up at the stars just as a bright light that I thought was a star dropped straight down and then stopped, hovering way up in the sky about the size of a full moon only brighter. I pointed and said, "what the hell is that?" My brother couldn't see it at first as there was a large maple tree blocking his view, so he got up and came around to my side saying, "I don't know, but its huge." It made no noise at all.

Just then a cone of pale light extended down and as we watched, sparkles of light rose up in the cone to the bright light. Just a few at first and then more and more as we watched. This went on for a couple of minutes until the cone of light retracted and then the bright light shot straight up into the sky and disappeared. I still kick myself for not taking pictures, but when you see something so bizarre you can't stop looking at it.

I told people at work the next day and one guy looked it up online. The same thing was reported from MA to VA and one guy even drew a picture!

I'll never forget it and I am the rational one in the family!

I saw one, not for one moment do I believe it was extraterrestrial though.

We were driving to a job site near Tonopah NV which sits just north of the test range when I saw a slow moving craft just over the mountains which seamed to be staging like a rocket, but this was flying horizontally. It would produce a faint trail as it flew east, than its exhaust would burst brightly for a second than it would go back to a faint trail again. It did this with some regularity until it was out of sight. Weird, but probably not extraterrestrial.

I have a VHS tape somewhere recorded off the TV about five years ago, it has the testimonials of many former military and other credible types on it openly speaking of their experiences.

Pretty convincing stuff.

However, it's like a murder investigation without recovering the victims body.

Tough sell with a jury.

During my flying career I witnessed several "UFO's". Several at close enough range I was quite sure they weren't conventional aircraft. I've always leaned toward the time traveler theory more than the extraterrestrial explanation myself. But I have no idea of what they really might could be.

Saw one..1968 late after noon
Was tri angle in shape...HUGE ! ( maybe 200 feet across) Cant tell for sure how HUGE cause i dont know how big they are there for i dont know how high it was there for i dont know how big it was there for..OH
OK....I think it about 500 feet up (it went over a hill that high)
It had BIG round lights turning slowly on and off. Was not moving very fast....NOT a noise.
If it was a air foil...it was doing really well for the slow speed it was doing...but maybe a Delta wing really big can go really slow?

Circa 1995 my dad and I were standing out on the patio grilling when we both noticed a little silver disc flying close to an airliner overhead (we live under one of the approach legs for the intl' airport). The disc was a fraction the size of the jetliner, flying parallel and underneath it, but moving about 5x it's speed. I can still picture it in my head, the way the bright sunlight seemed to reflect off the metallic surface. The spitting imagine of a UFO sighting you'd see off a television program or something. We were both surprised but brushed it off.

Later that evening, the 10 o'clock news had a brief story saying people from all over the Metro area had been calling in to report a silver UFO just like we'd seen.
