From Mike's (M.D.) post I gathered that his original price was 30K but now might inflate enough to look at a TT. If so then I would suggest going that direction Mike. The TT has few faults and is a more robust package all around.
My last post was a bit off, there was not a C2S in the 996, only a C4S. The C4S is basically a turbo body, suspension, and brakes with a C4 drivetrain. When it comes down to it they're just like the prior turbo-look models, no faster than the standard cars but they look like sex. They did make a C2S in the 997.

I would budget $40k for a good turbo. I looked at one at $35k but passed due to a somewhat sketchy history, and that's about as cheap as they get. Otherwise I agree, the turbo is bulletproof. Though for turbo money you can make a 996 or 997 pretty bulletproof too.

I can appreciate the nose and skirt but have to draw the line on the wing. Admittedly that's a total personal (and unpopular) bias but I have never liked the wing on the back of a 911 - including the 930. Too Miami Vice for me but then like I said I'm not normal

Actually the C4S doesn't get the wing. Turbo nose, skirts, wider rear flares, and back bumper, but no wing. It's a C4 with a bubble butt.

Here's a few more of my affordable 996 after a good weekend of cleaning. I'm going to order an add-on GT3Tek GT3 lower front spoiler to remedy my missing aerokit front bumper and get some spacers for the goofy stock offset wheels until I find a better looking 18" wheel at a reasonable price. Lots of maintenance stuff in the near future, as well as an Evolution Motorsports V-flow intake (already ordered) and probably some Fister D mufflers.

So you buy a cheap car and this becomes 'How Matt is Upgrading His New 996'?

I've had my eye on that one for a few weeks.... Good looking car, but I'm surprised it's not sold yet.

I always love it when a guy posts a picture of the back seat, like that would ever be worn out.

If it has been posted a long time and is not sold there are probably issues. Or it might be time to offer $2,000 under the asking price.
