![]() $20cdn on Facebook marketplace. I think that's about $3 US The ad said something was wrong with the starter....... I put gas in it, and it started right up. I'm not joking. I cut the grass for a bit, adjusting the wheel height, and eventually it started to sputter, and died with a stream of gasoline across my yard. The carburetor bowl bolt was loose. Tightened it, refilled it with gas (free from recycle depot no less) and it runs like new with no leaks. It was manufactured in 2018. This is the newest mower I've ever used. ![]()

Got a hoveround i put $50. worth of new batteries in it and it works great. Also got an old heavy duty garden trailer i will spruce up and sell. An old freezer for scrap and a bunch of wood and some good size pieces of plywood. And a few boxes of nick nacks from the garage sale leftovers. all free

Stopped by a friend's pup the other day and the bartender told me that there was a bicycle that he's been there for 3 months. Nothing special, a cable lock. I figured I can clean it up and give it away, so picked up a new blade for the Dewalt, and charged the batteries and boom.

Couldn't resist. Has heat, so I hope it snows this winter.

Today's score......
SEVEN 4'x8' sheets of 7/16" OSB panels - in perfect condition - set out by the curb at my neighbor's 2 doors down. It's obvious from the writing on each panel she used these to cover her doors and windows during hurricane situations. She must have upgraded to a different system and had no further need for these. I will use these when I enclose my 12'x30' storage structure in my side yard, which currently only has a Galvalume roof. The current going rate at HD for these panels are ~$28/each. These will be sufficient to enclose one entire side!

Estate Sale This Weekend. Bought two custom made sofas.
Bought the first couch on Thursday and paid their full asking price ($700). Went back today and bought the 2nd couch at half price. Now I have to buy new end tables and lamps to make it all fit. Pictures don't show the color well; they are a greenish gold. My old couch & love seat are getting worn out but I hope to sell them on CraigsList for about $600 - listing tonight. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pretty sweet score for $350... Any bets on how long it will be until I'm posting in the what are you fixing today thread?

I had a striped couch here that was a freebie - from a friend who replaced it with a different style. It was a great couch!

That's a hell of a score! When my dad was young, he'd buy cars with mechanical issues, fix them and then either flip or drive them. He mostly stopped after I was born, but there was one, I think his last that I remember. It was an old Nova. He bought the car, then bought a rear end from a junk yard and swapped the rear. That was the extent of the issue. He kept that one for a bit. He later discovered when he went to buy a starter or something that the car had a special, low production, high perf big block. He bought a starter for a big block, but it didn't match. Turned out that it was something special (maybe like a COPO option) that required a special starter (among other things).

Is there anything more sad than a car enthusiast's estate sale?
I think the guy was a PCA member at one time, but most of the stuff that was selling was either tools or for an Audi TT. The TT went for $10,000, if it sold. They got good money for the truck and open aluminum trailer. Lots of Schwaben tools, didn't sell for a lot but more than I was willing to pay. I bought a set of Ronal 18x9 wheels. They're 5x100, they don't fit anything I own, going to hopefully flip them. I also bought more lug nuts than I'll ever use, I only wanted a set but they were in a box with other stuff. There were people bidding on used Hoosiers, they were at least 10 years old. I wouldn't trust them. Funny there were no large tool boxes, torque wrenches, or air compressor or air tools in the auction. I wonder where that stuff went. |
