I have one of those in pristine condition hanging from my garage ceiling. I bought it new around 1992 or so.

This weekends score.

Have a 61" Samsung DLP that the wife and I love the picture on. We prefer it to newer hi def sets where everything is too crisp.

Has an issue with one of the main boards, sometimes you get audio but no picture and you need to restart it a couple of times.

I replaced the board a couple of years back. You can't get new units, only system pulls and even then they are $200-300 if you can even find one.

Saw an ad for the same exact set in a 56" size. Uses the same board.

Grabbed a screwdriver and went for a look. Set does not fire up. Pulled the bulb and sure enough it's done.

Took a flyer on it, could be bulb, could be worse.

Took it home and threw a known good bulb in it, fired right up.

$20.00

tangent .. you realize that that is more a function of the settings than the technology, right? TV display models are set in a mode to get your attention, not to display the best picture. /tangent

Yes I am aware you can change the settings but there is still a difference between the technologies that visually goes beyond that.

It's a personal preference.

Kahles binoculars, $35 estate sale find. Probably 75 people ahead of me had the opportunity to buy them but didn't know what they were.

Bought a box of binoculars at a local on-line auction for $40. Included 6 binoculars (including a couple of monster-size 20x60s), a monocular, and a NIB digital camera/binocular. The only thing I was really interested in were these early 90s Nikon Tropical 7x50 marine binocs. Not all Nikon binoculars are that great, but I would rate these alongside Steiner and Kahles. Probably $500 resale. These were some of the last Nikons to be 100% made in Japan.

Was looking at C-list this morning and saw an ad for a Nikon FM2 w/50mm lens for $100.
Looking closer at the ad I see it's a 50mm f1.2 lens. Can't believe it. Ad is only 15 hrs old so I take a chance and reply via their email system.
By noon the camera and lens were in my possession. Couldn't believe my good luck as I thought for sure it'd be gone. I've been on the hunt for both of these for some time now.

Picked up two 3 1/2 point Hudson Bay 100% wool blankets at a garage sale for all of $4.00 each! The sell for $325 each new! and are worth about $100+ each on ebay.

Picked up a sewing machine last night on CL. Located 2 miles away so easy drive. I'm not a seamtress but need a few things sewn up from time to time so this should do the trick...

Sewing machine - Dressmaker, many different cams, instruction book, all parts, cover. Works perfect. $45

I've just picked up this nice clean early 70s. Yamaha small bodied accustic guitar.
It's got very nice tone and action. I'm just beginning playing but it does sound great when my tutor plays it.

Got a good deal on it, but did drive the SC down to pick it up in Phoenix. So I did PAY. For it. Whew still HOT down there.

Ps I Picked up the western horse blankets , now on the couch for $4 each. At a trading post.

All steel, tool/machinists cabinet. Modular/stackable unit. Had been wet and had some surface rust. I lightly sanded the bad areas, treated it with rust inhibitor and wiped it all down with 10w oil. Made in Ohio. Brass pulls.
