I went to pick up this Baldor 500 grinder from an FBMP ad. As I'm loading it into the truck I notice he has a Wilton bullet vise. I ask, "is that Wilton for sale?" He says "make me an offer." I only had $25 left. SOLD! Paid $150 for the grinder. The Norton diamond wheel is worth more than that. The Wilton was a nice bonus.

That's a heck of a score. When I see Wiltons advertised, they are often listed for 3 figures, usually well into the 3 figure range. You practically stole that vise.

I can't believe how much those old bullet vises are bringing. I paid $80 for one awhile back and thought I stole that one!

I have a Wilton with a swivel base that I will eventually restore that I picked up a number of years ago.
I believe the Garage Journal reaction to your score would be "You Suck"...
Nice score on both the grinder and the vise.

Thanks Billy.

When you get ready to restore that Wilton, Menards has the paint that is closest to the factory color. It’s Rustoleum Verde Green number 7219.

Yep, at $80, you did, at least, based on what I've seen.

Finally bought a first 'real' camera. Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with 18-55mm and a 55-250 lens for $200 almost new in the box. More money for those those $3500 lenses. This model is supposed to almost just as good as the other Rebels but with a smaller lighter body.

Congrats!
For a first 'real' camera that looks like it'll do nicely.

More free patio furniture.

Haven't messed with that strip of tape yet so not sure why it's there, other than a rip. But the sling seems to be strong enough to support me so....

People toss stuff away. It's all sitting out at the curb.

I picked this one up on my way to one of my accounts here on the island. I'm in my truck so plenty of room to transport.

I know you can relate when you live in a vacation destination there are lots of outdoor living items that outlive their usefulness, at least to whatever extent that is determined by the owner.

Honestly I leave a lot behind for someone else if it's something I can't use. I don't list anything I pick up on any sales sites. At some point I will probably thin the herd a bit. For now I'm just being more selective.

If you've looked at the "Continuing projects" thread, you'll see I've been building outside decks here at my house. Well....this chaise lounge is going to reside on one of them. I already have chairs and a table from previous scores.

Thank God I'm single and am allowed to bring stuff like all this junk home!

It is not that easy to find stuff at the curb these days. My county went to a reservation system for bulky items, instead of coming by the X xxxday of the month. So now, no one really knows when the big stuff are put out unless you go cruising.

Same here i made a living off of picking garbage for a few years then they changed to the automatic trucks and everything had to be in the big special cans. Now cant find anything on garbage day so i just keep an eye out when im out an about. The best stuff is always when you catch someone with a dumpster doing a cleanout. Only happens about once or twice a year for me but always a mother load. I just got done with one from my neighbor. 96 years old and collected camping supplies the whole time. And golf balls I counted 2400 of them! Sold half the golf balls and all the camping stuff except for the better lanterns and such ill save for ebay. Also got an emmert pattern makers vice worth 4-800$ tons of old camera stuff including 3 canon ae-1 and half a dozen yashicas. And thats just a taste of it. Ill be busy for a while sorting and selling everything

Lived in a college town, I used to find half bicycles in the dumpsters all the time. The days of 'special pickup' was usually the most opportune. One time during changeover season there were a couple white leather couches brand new in plastic that someone had ordered but had flunked or moved before that I guess.

Check out freecycle dotcom. They will send a lot of updates if you like that.

Picked up a nice condition ladder today from Nextdoor.

$50 for a Werner 20' f/g extension - 225lb. capacity model.

Had to drive over to Ponce Inlet for it but on the way back I stopped at HD for another load of wood for my deck project and also brought Mom her weekly provisions.

This ladder fills a niche for me between my 24' and my 16' aluminum extensions.

Go on a collage campus when they leave for the summer. They'll be a dozen mini-fredges by the dumpster.

I dun made a score as of late...bought at auction...a real nice long spoon...ifn it were nt special I paid about the going rate...cause it is special on 2 counts it in my estimation was under valued.

1. The org owner was an article writer bout spoons and vp of the NRA...where ole Chuck Heston beat him out of bein Prez of the NRA...it also explains how he got the spoon.

2. The spoon was one of 7 custom made in that caliber by the company to get into that particular spoon market..they were given out to spoon writers and users of that particular type of spoon.

so with that rarity I don't expect to ever see one of those again..

Is it similar to this one?
I've been wondering of the value.

On the local marketplace. An actual dash mounted record player. I’d heard these things existed, but thought it was a joke.
