Oil change on Saturday. Overinflated the tires. Finished up on Sunday with the rest. I removed the battery instead of leaving it on the tender. Removed the aerosol cans from the garage as well. Called the insurance company on Monday and put the Porsche on storage insurance.

In the Spring, my cans were dead-pb blaster, MAF cleaner etc. Seems like every year. Last winter, I removed them and stored them inside the house. Some of them I stored in the Flammables Cabinet at work.
No problems this last summer.

Not me. I say drive it. These cars get better with use and a few miles on them.

Then again, it is only a 996.

I drove the 84 everyday too though.

It's summer here - yay. It's been a long winter including the worst storm in recorded history for us.

So I've been out in the SC as I do all year round. But yes, summer is here. Yesterday was topless girls on the beach and a surf.

Not in storage but once the roads are salted I won't drive it until spring. Also, cold roads and summer tires are a poor mix with a lot of horsepower.

Went to storage 2 weeks back. Gas stabilizer, floor mats out, battery on the trickle charger. See you in June!

Lately they've been salting the roads here in the PNW, both slurry and rock salt. Sucks... Cold clear weather for the next week and the roads are white.

From the Ontario Ministry of Transportation:

"The ministry continues to expand the use of 'pre-wetted' salt. This practice involves adding a small amount of liquid de-icier to road salt as it is placed on the road. Pre-wetted salt stays on the road better and works faster than dry salt. Pre-wet equipment was installed on 140 salt and sand spreaders this past winter."

and . . .

"Two automatic bridge de-icing systems have been installed: one at Highway 401 and 416, one on Highway 17 in Ottawa, with three under construction. These systems automatically spray liquid de-icing chemicals on the bridge surface when ice or snow is anticipated. Also, the ministry has initiated trials to evaluate mobile liquid anti-icing techniques to prevent black ice from forming and snow from packing to the road surface."

Carry on . . .

Same as others, when the salt showed up I parked it and filled it with mothballs (figuratively) a couple of weeks ago. Stabilizer in the full gas tank, battery out and on a tender, windows cracked open, dirty oil out, in a dry and warm garage, and up on jacks so that I can give myself skinned knuckles as I make mistakes under the car.

Next spring I will have to wait till everything is dry outside, because I live about one mile off of a paved road and salty mud is not good packed into the fenders and everything else under the car. It always drives me nuts to see bikes and old winter-stored cars running around while I am waiting for my road to harden up, but that's what quiet isolation costs.

He's in Vermont, give him a break. To me Vermont is the tropics, though; I've had to wait till June also - once.

If it's a wet and mild spring then May is more realistic. I like to wait for the good rains to wash the salt away completely... the salt is unreal. It eats the newer cars at such an incredibly fast rate most likely because the sheet metal is so thin.

Winter tires went on last week, have to get it in to Rust Check for its yearly squirt. I'll put the ski rack on once the snow's staying on the ground. The c4 is a fantastic winter car.
