I just watched "Brawl in Cell Block 99". After all of the hype I was expecting something special.
It was just OK I guess. The violence gets almost comical at the end.

It's worth your time but it doesn't have a happy ending.

Saw this yesterday.
Not a typical Liam Neeson movie...but good with some dark humor and a large body count.

The MOVIE thread

Yes, there is a movie/series theme to this.

The wife an I were house bound by avoiding all of the local chaos from folks(valley/SF/Bay Area) not listening to the news and local agencies asking people to stay away due to weather. Had everything locked up and heard about some unbelievable public insanity.

Anyway......... since we didn’t lose power, shocking! We had a chance to bing watch a new 2019 series on Netflix. Ok, so I admit I sat down with the “yes dear, I’ll watch what you want to” philosophy and I have to say it was much better than I thought it was.

Just give the trailer a watch and make your decision. I really liked it but I also don’t want to pump it up too much for others.

The music chosen is good and nobody in the show has or uses cell phones. All old school rotary and phone booths.

The Umbrella Academy (2019), Official Trailer https://www.imdb.com/videoplayer/vi822589977

Even Hamish was diggin ithttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e09fe05a40.jpg
Also ran through the D.C. 007 movies too. A set of my favorite “Go-To” movies or “Crowd Pleasers”

Are these Black Mirror-ish or a different disturbing? Intrigued.

Well, Detainment was based on a true story of 2, 10 year old boys whom abducted and murdered a 3 year old.

Some are about racism, Death, life. All very interesting.

The tension in the small theater was palpable.

TCM's 31 days of Oscar has had some good flicks on. Today two Charlton Heston's "Khartoum" and "55 Days at Peking". "Ben Hur" on now.....

Was just on PBS a couple of weeks ago. Recorded it and watched it over two evenings. Great film.

OK, S03E01 in Justified the bad guy has a FIE Titan in a sleeve rig and holds his thumb over the top of the slide when he fires it. I hate that.

Murdoch Mysteries also had a 1903 that he fired into a block to get the bullet but the slide did not cycle when he fired.

Avatar the ducted fans made a UH-1 rotor/tail rotor interference noise.

Why cant they get these little details (BIG in the case of Avatar) so you don't get jarred out of the scene.

Avatar had a number of things that made it horrible to watch.

Does anything like that bother all y'all when they pop up? The little things aren't bad to me but some just jump out and rip you out of the film.

I finally found the original Dragon Tattoo dubbed in English. Noomi Rapace was very good. I was surprised how similar the two versions were.

Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born shows some serious talent. The dialogue in the first half had me wondering, ‘Academy Award for Best Picture? WTF. Terrible.’ The movie grows on you. Gaga got better as the movie went on, too.

I loved that movie Baz...

Just re-watched this after many years. I remember the commotion this caused when it was released. Still a great movie.

Detainment - One movie that should never have been made. Just glamourising the two murderous scouse low life, that should be put down, instead the UK tax payer bears the cost of giving them hidden identities.
not blaming anybody for watching it, it is what it is.

sc_rufctr 02-25-2019 04:11 AM

When James Bulger was murdered I remember thinking... How is this even possible?
