As as said NA's are cheap and plentiful in SoCal. (note: I had a NA and loved it but creature comforts are pretty slim)

I have about a year more to save up ~ $15K

But at that price point a lot of other sports cars join the list.

I sat in the ND but it felt much smaller. The NC has a larger trunk. I can get my golf clubs in the trunk.

I have the prht version which I think is worth holding out for. Having said that I still drive around my Porsche dealership looking at used Caymans and Boxsters but the Miata is so much legal fun....

I miss my '79 SC Targa but 911s are out of my budget nowadays. So are Boxsters and their parts. The Miata timing belt kit with water pump and all the seals cost just $190 delivered!

Miatas are a bit like 911s. They aren't for everyone, but the people who like them, like them a lot.

I have been thinking of replacing my old '90 Miata with one of the third generation.
Mine was an accident rebuild which was suffering from the not uncommon for first year Miatas Small Nose Crank problem. I bought it and had it on the road a week later. That was 25K miles ago.
Amazing fun for the money.
If you do get into the third generation(NC) MX5, the Achillies heel of these cars seems to be the cooling system pressure tank. They are plastic and have been known to let go as the plastic ages. There is an aluminium after market tank available which eliminates the problem.
Strangely enough, I don't recall anyone exhibiting anti Miata behaviour in the five years I have had it.

Hey Les thanks for the heads up on the OEM plastic NC coolant tank. My NC is about five years old but has only done 18k miles but I will look into replacing it with a Flyin
Miata aluminum tank.
