Disneyland Empty

I was down there a few days ago and took these two shots of the Magic Castle about an hour before it opened for the day. I thought it was kind of cool. I'll be going down again next week for a film we're working on before the Park opens. If any interest, I'll take and post some more pics before the tourists come in.

Its a 24/7 operation with about 22,000 employees. Planting, painting, cleaning all occur at night, all night, every night of the year.

I have NEVER seen pictures of D-land with no people, very groovy. Do you get to stay in the apartment over the Pirates of the Caribbean ride if you want to, or in Mr Disney's over that firehouse thing? That would be kind of cool.

We stay at the Sheraton off property, we get a much better Corporate rate than at the Disneyland Hotel. I may stay there next Tuesday night rather than brave the 2-1/2 hour drive from Anaheim back home, and back again on Wednesday morning. The Company isn't inclined to pay for my room since its "local". Whatever, the $122/night is worth it to me not to spend an extra 5-6 hours in traffic over two days.

I think I can do that. But I'll have to check on clearance on that however. They are just concrete tunnels and not as neat as you'd think. But they are like an underground City with commissaries, break rooms, changing rooms, etc.

When I ran the Disneyland half marathon it was kinda eerie to see the park empty except for the employees cheering us on. Those pictures are cool, Hugh. I love Disneyland. I just took my boys there before thanksgiving and it was awesome! Love the new CARS Land.

Wife did the Disney half marathon a few years ago. Early am thru the park before it opens. She said it was surreal to see the park empty.

Can we get a pic of you (Hugh) in the Snow White costume??? That would be awesome! Even Cinderella would suffice!

I will donate $100 to the charity of your choice if you post a picture of yourself in the Snow White costume Hugh. The blackmail possibilities boggle the mind.

Ah, I gotta get the kids to the House of the Mouse someday. They've been bugging us to take them for the past several months, but Mrs. Noah isn't a fan of amusement parks.

Hmmm. Maybe I can borrow Gogar's credit card for a trip there...

I've never been there. No disrespect meant, because I know it's a big deal to a lot of people but I don't get it. What is it they have there?

It's probably similar but I had an opportunity to be in the Museum of Science and Industry after closing hours. I was a judge for the Chicago Science fair. It is very eriee walking thru the exhibits. I also saw the wear and tear to some of the interactive exhibits, carpets and such.

I can only imagine what Disney would look like empty - I'm visioning getting stuck in the "Small, Small, woerld ride. I have heard so many stories of the underground city below the complex - that I would like to see.

More pics Hugh! Thanks for sharing.

A friend is a member of Club 33 and invited us to join him a few years ago. Very exclusive, ridiculously expensive. Something like 25K to join and then 10K a year with a ten year waiting list! But if you got it, it's worth it. Incredible food and service.
Main entrance is a "secret door" next to Pirates of the Caribbean, but if you don't want to walk through the park to get there, there is an even more secret entry from outside.

Nice to actually see it. All I saw was the back of the person in front of me as my family shuffled along through the park. Don't go during the peak summer season, it was a miserable experience.

We took the kids to a princess breakfast thing at Epcot once. It was cool because it started before the park opened, so we got to see it completely empty. Just the gardeners tending the plants. Very cool.
