Simple Solutions To Hard Everyday Problems...

Just requires a decision is all, actually very simple really. Just make up your mind and do these simple, very simple things...

Weight Loss: Want to lose weight, don't eat so much...still fat? Eat even less...

Get Out of Debt: Don't spend so much...still in debt? Spend even less...

Too Much Polution: Drive less...

Too Tired: Get to bed earlier...

Smoking Too Much: Stop, you can't deal with it so just stop all together...

Drink Too Much: Stop you can't deal with it so just stop all together...

Job Sucks: Find new one, quit one you have, it sucks for a reason so do something very different...

Marriage Sucks: Leave him/her now, it sucks for a reason so get out and find someone completely different...

Over Stressed: Do action to address above problems.

Its all about putting life into persepctive. So many of us live to edge and suffer chasing the ultimate comfort. How's that got ya? Yup, everyone reading this has at least one of these problems. There is a reason.

But of course there will be those that will say "oh ya, easy for you to say! And go and offer all sorts of excuses why these things are not possible or how they won't solve the problems. Guess what, these are the only ways to solve the problems. Its just a decision is all. A mindset change.

I'm a simple man with simple thoughts...I'm not smart enough to come with excuses and examples of complexities.

Country doc's message

A lady doctor who seemed like the perfect "country doc" to me worked at Kaiser Permanente in Denver. She told me when I asked her about weight loss ... the best tool in the world for weight loss is your front door.

Use it, she said .... open up your front door, get outside and get moving, do anything you want for exercise and get away from the KITCHEN!!

Pretty simple advice, and it worked.

It is very easy to say. Doing requires discipline. There have been plenty of times I did NOT want to get up early and go to the gym. "Five more minutes, just five more minutes." But making up your mind that you are going to drag ass out of the rack and get in the mindset of self-improvement, you will marvel at yourself - "Why did I want to lie in bed?"

Some problems do have very simple solutions. But simple <> easy. And then there are the problems that don't have simple solutions. Folks want to find simple solutions for complex problems, and that's just as much a failure as failing to do the work required to implement simple solutions to simple problems.

To address your original post. It boils down to character.

Examples are:

Married neighbor says "sex, where do you get that?"

Failed to address the problem with character are Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton.

Drug problem failed to address? Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. He will be at the Oscars tonight. Just playing himself!

Those are examples. MD you are right. All you need from what I conclude is good character, self discipline, self control. If you talk the talk and walk the walk it's easy.

This is actually great advice. Other than the drinking one, I've done all of the above and now have a damn nice life!

It's true that everything in moderation is one the most important parts of a life strategy. I had to learn that as I matured, because I had/have a tendency to overdo things. Plus, Mike is right on about taking on these problems in life head on. It's hard to make yourself do it. I've done a few of those things and can say they solved the problems. Just common sense coupled with determination. If you have some of those difficulties, get on with it. Even in a problem situation people tend to become so comfortable and accustomed to it, they find it hard to change.

I totally agree.

Instead of excuses; make it happen. And it will happen if it's important enough for you to make the sacrifices to make it happen.

For the most part I agree that personal responsibility would fix a lot of the victim mentality "problems" in life except for the one above.
Too many people dump their spouse when in reality they were the one with the problem. As such, they take the problem to the next relationship. That is why statistically, the percentage of marriages ending in divorce dramatically increases with the each additional marriage. Its easier to say you aren't doing what I want so I'm outta here. Selfless love gives rather than takes.
Disclaimer: I'm not talking about any one person in particular.

Pretty good quote I heard recently...

"If you really want something, you'll make it happen. If not, you'll make excuses."
