Sorry no... If a dog invades a cats territory that cat will just hide and wait until the dog leaves.

If you think about it... Why would they risk injury fighting a larger animal over a patch of land?
They'll only contemplate that if they feel they have no other choice.

We had a cat when I was a kid that would not tolerate a dog on our side of the street when we were in the yard. Big black tomcat. If they failed to cross the street, he would encourage them to do so.
The dog will be put down soon enough.
I just had a talk with the mother's uncle about this subject, turns out he's a co-worker.
He said the dog owners are the ones that need to be put down.
After the mother picked up her son and was yelling at the dog owners to call 911, the dog bit HER on the leg.

That dog needs to die soon. The owners need to be sued into bankrupt status and spend time in jail.

I read that the neighbors (the dog owners) posted on their FB page that the kids next door had been teasing and mistreating their dog.....which could explain why the dog attacked the kid.

There also was an article in Bakersfield with an interview with the kid's parents where the mom said her kids mistreated their cat - even sitting on him at times...and she wondered how the cat put up with it.

Sounds like the kid(s) may not understand how to treat pets, whether theirs or their neighbors.

I see dogs and cats being mistreated by kids all the time and the parents are nowhere to be found....AWOL. The adults should be held accountable....the kids, dogs, and cats are all the victims here.

The dog was off leash and out and about, unsupervised......poor ownership.

Irresponsible dog owner + unsupervised kids next door who teased and mistreated the dog + kid's parents who were clueless to what their kids were doing = death sentence for the dog....

Thanks for the update, Baz .. that's the only thing that made sense to me. It's a shame that dog must now die ..

WOW... You guys will believe anything as long as someone wrote it on the Internet.

The only thing I know for sure is what happened in that video ..... That dog took down that kid like it was his prey and a cat kicked his a$$.

What does that say about THAT dog?

Like I said, the boy's mother is the niece of a co-worker and he lives near her in Bakersfield (yes, he commutes every day, 130 miles each way).
He told us all kinds of details, took a while.
Either he was blowing smoke or I was hearing him repeat what his niece told him.

Lets say the Niece is telling the truth. That kid has special needs... That doesn't excuse animal cruelty but what the dog did was indefensible.

He stalked that kid and attacked him while his back was turned.

I love dogs but that one has to go.
