Who are the most successful Porsche mechanics?

I am curious as to who each of you would consider the most successful Porsche mechanics. This post is not intended to start a disrespectful discussion, so please don't do it, but it is intended to foster a healthy discussion amongst the forum members.
The rules are simple in that the mechanics must own or operate their own Porsche shop or have been employed by a Porsche shop, race team, etc. What say you?

I am, seeing as I single handedly designed and built (all of them) both the 917 and the 934 (while taking a knap, I might add)! And when you consider I accomplished that while on a much deserved leave from my Ferrari factory racer duties, well, thread closed!

Maybe so. Drivers are cherished, but 75% of their success is due to the quality of the car and its set-up and that is the domain of the mechanics.

Wrenches that were Porsche trained in their youth then went indy and cont. update thru Porsche training courses etc.....like Howard Freeman in Meridian, Miss.

I think not.

Now me on the other hand I'm pretty good. I installed my own alternator sure the belt is loose and the fan clanks like a Sherman tank but that damn thing is in there and the clanking and the sparks add to the thrill of driving a classic.

I have never really followed the Porsche race scene. I guess I measure "success" a little differently; I admire those that have learned the hard way and are willing to help others along the path.

With that in mind, I nominate those that have helped me with advice and knowledge: Peter Zimmerman, Steve Weiner, Henry Schmidt, Grady Clay, Jack Olsen, Tony (for all the CIS help) and the rest of the great contributors here. I couldn't have done what I have done so far without their insight. These guys will always be "successful" in my book.

Jack Atkinson is one of THE very best (Peter Gregg's mechanic). Dick Elverud is right there with him. Others such as Siggi Bruun, Franz Blam are also good.

There are many on here that have there own shops and from replies given really know where they are at,I think members on here would really value what they have to say and help novices built great strong running motors as a result,think its really cause this educated advise is free.
Every engine guy has slightly differant ways of doing a motor build,but its about that extra time spent to "sweat the details "as they say.
Funny how Motormeister have never been contributing on here .. or maybe they have??

I give my vote to John Walker as a great mechanic with a successful shop and reputation. Don't know about his training (if being Porsche trained makes a difference). A good mechanic is a good mechanic regardless of the origin of their training.
It is talent, knowledge and hands on experience that really counts. I find the same thing in my own daily realm of electricians and engineers. Some can paint by numbers, others can figure out what the numbers really mean...

Neil Harvey - Performance Developments; surgical attention to detail
Steve Weiner - Rennsport Systems; excellent reputation
Henry Schmidt - Supertec Performance; also excellent
