My cholesterol is borderline. My doctor put me on statins for preventative measures. The way the drug made me feel I decided I would rather die feeling good then live in a miserable sore body.

Try exercise, weight loss, diet first.
I had no issue w/ statins when I took them, but was glad to stop. |

8 years ago my doc put me on blood pressure pills and wanted me to take cholesterol pills. I declined the latter, exercised more, better diet etc. Now my bp has lowered even more and my meds for bp has been reduced. Everybody is different . I am not a med professional. I take Simvistatin for a different reason, I had Hodgkins lymphoma and had chemotherapy and radiation to cure it. One of the chemo drugs causes heart failure in many patients, including me. My heart doctor said it is good for my heart muscle and helps it squeeze harder to prevent fluid buildup.
On the subject of side effects, I have similar side effects as S-monkey, in that I have muscle aches all the time, and it seems chronic fatigue also, but these could be from having a weekened heart and reduced lung capacity (from cancer). |

After my stroke they put me on Simvistatin and a full dose aspirin every day. I giane d20 pounds, but I also quit smoking so I think that may have had something to do with the gain. I had soreness for the first year and then it went away. I too would like to be pharm-free, so after listening to all your stories, I may give it a shot.
