Who let Bangle out of the cellar?

That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw a 2015 Mustang live and in person.

Am I the only one?

They're ripping off Mercedes a bit too. And Audi.

About the only thing I don't like about the new Mustang is the headlights and the location of the driving/fog lights. Everything else looks pretty good to me! Even though the styling has changed, I can still see styling cues from Mustangs past.

That's not nearly grotesque enough to even compare to a Bangle design.

I've seen a couple in person and love them. Much leaner and more chiseled looking than the previous car, and the interior is also a huge improvement.

I dunno, it has four wheels, I think they're ripping off cars from over a hundred years ago to!

Would you rather have this total embarrassment from 1974?

I was 12 when the Cobra II was introduced and it was one of the sadder moments in my car-crazy California kid youth. Ford even had the audacity to include a '66 GT350 in one of the ads, daring to compare the new "Cobra" II to the legendary '66 GT350. It really felt like America was in serious decline and I didn't even have my drivers license yet.

Cheer up, the new one's looks may be startling or somewhat off-putting at first but one drive would probably put a smile on your face. We should be delighted at being able to walk into a dealership today and buy a musclecar, any one of the new models, that is actually a musclecar. Rejoice!

Don't get me started on how pathetic the Corvette was for so many years.

Bangle Bio

He was a judge at Pebble Beach this year....

Chris Bangle
Clavesana, Italy

A daring and influential designer whose work has provoked endless discussion, Chris Bangle is best known for his tenure as Chief of Design for the BMW group, where he was responsible for bringing the designs of the BMW, Mini Cooper, and Rolls Royce into the twenty-first century.
After graduating from Art Center College of Design, Mr. Bangle began his career at Opel in 1981, and later moved to Fiat where he designed the brazen Coupe Fiat. In 1992, he was named the first American Chief of Design at BMW where his mandate to “strategize emotion” energized the brand, updating BMW’s classic design with the bold, sculptural lines that helped BMW become the global leader in premium car sales and brought in legions of new fans. During his time at BMW, he introduced GINA, an experimental concept roadster that explored the amazing effects of replacing the rigid metal skin of a car with a one of fabric that can change shape and better respond to the challenges of manufacturing and aerodynamics.
In 2009, after pushing car design language to its limits for twenty-eight years, Mr. Bangle announced his departure from the auto industry—but not from car design. Today, as managing director of Chris Bangle Associates, he pursues his own design-related endeavors from his studio in Italy, focusing on new ideas and cutting-edge innovation. He also lectures, teaches and consults.

And MB is ripping off the Korean's. Welcome to the globalization of design.

Totally agree. Reminds me of a 'Merican 6 series/Aston, which is not a bad thing.

I drove a 2015 Mustang four Cyl Turbo the other day. The exterior is nice as is the interior. Comfy seats. The Turbo four was quick but I just couldn't get over how big the thing was.

A buddy of mine in high school kept telling me that his dad had a mint Mustang Cobra from the 60's (he thought) in storage. Well, his dad got it out of storage and it was a Cobra II. I was so disappointed but I managed to tell him (weakly) how cool I thought it was (so as not to hurt his feelings). I didn't have the heart to tell him it was just a Pinto with pin stripes.

It does look like a Bangle. I will concede his designs are influential. They influenced me to lose all interest in BMW.
