meanwhile people who champion the 'right' to murder inconvenient babies are considered champions of women's rights.

Stepping back a bit and looking at the current situation:
In the civil suit against Cosby, 13 women were to testify to allegations of being drugged and assaulted by him. Some were willing to be named, others were not. None followed through because the suit was settled. The result was that, publicly, only one woman claimed assault, Andrea Constand, and she settled and was silenced. That is 1 public accusation and 12 "suspicions." Since the settlement, Tamara Green has made public what she would have testified. That makes 2 public accusations of drugging and assault. Beth Ferrier made public that she was drugged and raped in 1984, something she would have testified to in the suit. That makes 3 public accusations. A few weeks ago, Barbra Bowman made public her testimony in the suit. That makes 4 public accusations. On Monday, Joan Tarshis publicly accused him of drugging and assaulting her in 1969. She was not one of the 13 in the civil suit, so that makes 5 public accusations and 14 women who have claimed similar drug and assault charges against Cosby. Yesterday, Janice Dickinson made public her similar accusation--that she was drugged and assaulted. She was not one of the 13 either, so that makes 6 public accusations and 15 claims. Quite a revelation by Janice Dickinson. Just a hunch, but I doubt she needs the money. Its the ones that are not in for the money that seem far more credible.
In a way, reinforces what the others are saying, but those allegation(s) were settled out of court. The media creates this idealized image of celebrities: that they are untouchable, that they’re not one of us... I don’t think people want to believe it; to believe would shatter the illusion. Everyone revered Bill Cosby. He could do no wrong. At the time, was long the number one TV show and... he was America's dad. Right now and after all this trash coming out, I have my doubts. Cosby looks criminally disgraceful and for him being such a critic, he's refused to speak out. Why is that? Doesn't look good. |
It's funny but I'm different from a lot of you I guess. I never doubt accusations like this when more than one woman accuses a guy of dropping a "roofie" on them or other sexual assault. This type of thing is far more prevalent than a lot of people realize and 90% of the time I'm guessing that the perp gets away with it, at least in the situations where it occurs within the *party people* or drug scene, etc. IOW, among people who were already intoxicated when it occurs. The anecdotal stories around Hollywood are legion.
As for JD, whom I've known for decades, there is no way on earth she made this story up, IMO. She's nuttier than a squirrel turd and in fact she does need the money but she's not insane and that is what it would take for someone to expose themselves to the kind of treatment Cosby's legal team would give to someone making claims of this nature that were untrue. Some of you seem to live in some imaginary world where any whore can just make rape claims against one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, (make that the USA), and then sit back and wait for their meal ticket. Wrong. His lawyers will make life extremely difficult for someone telling the truth with evidence, much less a fabricator. You truly have no idea. She is not naive. She's been around the block so many time that there is a footpath worn in. She is terrified of Cosby and his lawyers and just finally got the courage to speak out with all of the other accusations coming up. I'm sure that she is still scared. |
Been following this thread. I know a girl that got roofied. By a mutual friend. The hardest thing for her to do was to tell someone about it. It can't be easy to come forward. Some I imagine absorb the ordeal and move on. Once the word gets out, it isn't difficult to imagine the woman feeling safer in numbers joining up.
I could give a crap who the accused is. Famous or not. |
Just announced that NBC has dropped Cosby's planned sitcom. I only worked with Cosby once years ago on "Ghost Dad", and from that experience I can believe the accusations of sexual impropriety and racism. I'll just leave it at that.

I'm glad that he is being exposed for what he is while he's still alive. He almost got away with it.

speeder- You seem to have an insight on some of these celeb's. Being the reputation and nature of Hollywood, what would you think Oprah might know? I'm just asking because she's been very open about her brutal upbringing and abuse as a young girl. A very outspoken person and who obviously knows Cosby.
Do you think this whole ordeal is going to turn into a black, racist thing? There is that stigma of high profile black having the support of like. The O.J. Simpson case is one for the books. My god, that guy is a killer, had a long history of losing control and was violent. Even though locked up, he got away with killings. Despicable and rabid. Sure hope we all get a very clear and legit honest answer about Cosby and not some black leaders coming to smear and make it a race issue. Should learn from the above but have a feeling its going to ride the coat tails of Fergusen, MO. Sadly, even if the allegations become fact, what happens? Is Cosby off the hook for ever serving jail time? |
I never thought he was funny. Isn't all this past the statute of limitations anyway?

Denis, you certainly are wrong about a lot of things when you are "pretty sure" It depends on which state, but murder is the only crime that commonly does not have a statute of limitations. A lot of states changed the rules for child molestation. The statute does not start to run until they are 18, in California anyway. This has been the case for maybe 20 years. Oh, and whether or not it turns into a racial thing does not have anything to do with if in fact, it is a racial thing. Mr Cosby has been an outspoken critic of black culture. I don't think it turns into a racial thing, but it is not because it isn't, which it is not. It is more because Mr Cosby will not have anyone given to playing the race card standing up for him.
The sheer number of people coming forward leads me to believe he did it. No way in hell does he go to jail for any of this. His career is over, may have to cough up some dough in a civil settlement, but that is it. |
We know he did it, since he's already settled one case that was headed to a trial. The question is, how many times did he do it? My guess is a lot more than 15. They say 97% of rapes go unreported.
What surprises me about Cosby is that he had access to all sorts of women, and used that access often, so why did he have sex with women who were less than willing partners? It seems that willing partners were not in short supply. JR |
