Before you take that bet... There is a statute of limitation on rape... varies by locale and age of victim and other things.

I'll spare Tobra a losing bet that he probably wouldn't pay...there is no SOL on aggravated rape in CA. Whether or not drugging someone to rape them falls under AR or not is what I do not know.

Denis,

Your ignorance of facts does not translate to me being a deadbeat. It just means you don't know what you are talking about. Whether or not drugging someone to rape them falls under aggravated rape or not is among the many and varied things on which you are willing to offer a baseless opinion, despite your ignorance.

In this day and age, anybody that thinks he is not guilty should really shake their head.

This has been long time coming, but if you want to believe him (rather quiet now) over the number of woman that are coming forward well past the statute of limitation, so be it...

Correct, there is no SOL in Ca. for aggregated rape which is defined as rape that involves a weapon, more than one person, or seriously injures the victim.

The SOL on non-aggregated rape is six years.

If DNA evidence is available, the SOL is one year.

These are limits for criminal prosecutions.

No one in this Cosby situation has ever claimed the assaults to be aggravated rape--not the accusers and not the police. In fact, all parties admit the statute of limitations has passed for both criminal and civil litigation.

Yeah, he's free and clear on this one from a criminal angle. Too bad, really. He deserved to do some serious prison time like anyone else who gets caught doing what he did.

I was responding more to the statement that murder is the only crime w/o a SOL. This is not true.

This is an ugly business and it looks bad for Cosby but I am not big on lynch mobs. I favor allowing the legal wheels to turn. All the sharp attorneys in the US smell blood in the water and they will do their worst to seek civil justice if a criminal trial is beyond reach now. This does touch awfully close to home for me though.

One of my daughters accepted a drink from a stranger in a 5 star hotel bar in San Diego and it turned out to be roofied. Fortunately the words " when out on the town, never ever leave your wing man" must have stuck because her friends protected her and got her home safely. She dodged a big bullet that night.

I hope I never meet the guy who did it because I am not sure I could keep myself from killing him. I am sure the fathers of these alleged victims feel the same way.

The statute of limitations on both criminal and civil litigation has passed. There will be no legal wheels turning on this case unless Cosby's team decides to sue the accusers for slander. I wouldn't bet on that.

Or perhaps overdue.

And actually, that makes them more believable.

Tobra 11-20-2014 12:04 PM

Yup

I must admit, if he had done this to my sister, or my daughter, they would still be looking for his body.

I think they changed the SOL for aggravated rape since all this happened. That being the case, I suspect the laws that were in effect at the time would be the ones that apply.
