Beyond cool, Craig! Beautiful work!
Myself on the other hand, I wouldn't trust anything that I built to keep me in the air.. ![]() .

That is damned impressive. What's the powerplant?
27 years ago I was building 'em peanut scale while drooling over the Aircraft Spruce catalog. Time sure flies! ![]()

It is even cooler to see a B-52 land in a strong crosswind. To see the landing gear pointing down the runway and the airframe twisted at an angle is just mind bending.

Mine has taken about 6 - 7 years, built from blueprints. I would like to know how long Craig took with his.

~~~~~~~ Good video showing the landing gears (trucks, they're called in the AF) crabbing. There's a crab controller system and indicator in the cockpit of those B-52s. . That left outboard gear got some action, eh?
I started it in 1983 and flew it July 1st 1989 but pretty much packed it away in 1987 when I got married.
I helped a friend of mine build a Harmon Rocket in the late '90's, early 2000's. All the wing parts (spars, stringers, etc.) were pre-cut medal, not nearly as cool looking as your wing or as difficult to build I bet!
It's real easy to loose interest in a project this big and I did for awhile. You get all the big stuff done, on the landing gear then you have another 2 years of work that doesn't show.
I can completely understand - I think of the house the same way. There are only a small handful of things left to do but getting to them is like pulling teeth.
I've been telling myself for months, "This will be a good winter project. Everything will be finished in time for spring flying." Then cold weather gets here. My office is nice and warm, and the hangar is cold enough to make ice sculptures. And nothing gets done because I am in here, warm.
On the first page, why are all the struts drilled for lightness except for the one in the middle?
They used to fly B-52s out of Sacramento. Eau de kerosene along with the sound and fury of one of those things going close over your head on take off, yowza. I bet it could give you heart palpitations if they spaced them out right.
Because that is the end piece. Beyond that is the aileron bay. You can see the "C" clamps holding the aileron in place.
