This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Superb! Thanks much & please keep em coming.

Just finished booking my first trip, for March. 48,600 miles. Twice around the world

Now, on to planning one for the wife and I focused on beaches and islands.

Then, I have one to book for my son and I that will focus on equatorial/3rd world countries. I am hoping we can do much of it on rented small motorcycles outside of cities.

Beaches and Island.......Loved Fiji when stopping there 2 yrs ago on my way to Australia. It's like Hawaii probably was 75 years ago.

Just got home from a month in the Mediterranean. Highlights for me were: Islands of Greece, Amalfi Coast, Sicily, Sardinia and Spain.......Also hit Nice, Monaco, Pisa, Rome, Dubrovnik, and Venice, but been to those several times before......

I hate flying, even 1st cabin. I have no desire to see many places on your list, but I know all about Different Strokes, so have fun.

Still on my list is New Zealand and more of the South Pacific........Enjoy

You're getting around these days, Bob! Fiji is a must-do on our list, as are the Greek Islands. I think Sicily would be cool, too.

Unlike you, I LOVE flying long haul up front! The food and wine are terrific and I giggle the entire time thinking about the fact that I'm flying at 600MPH, 7 miles in the air, to a cool new destination, all while eating great food and wine. Heaven!

I plan on exploring New Zealand for a week on this trip via rental car. Really looking forward to it, as many people have told me its probably the most beautiful spot on earth.

Taste, ha, I get it. The Maoris tell me us white people taste just like pork.

But yes, maybe marinated in frangipani...

You should spend more time in Korea, great food and culture, new and ancient.
Places I went in the past year that are out of the way that are worthwhile:
Merida, Uxmal (Chichen Itza and Tulum are well known) in the Yucatan.
Cotopaxi (you can hike to 16k feet) and Galapagos.
Machu Pichu, Cusco, Sacred Valley in Peru
El Chalten, El Calafate, Ushaia, Cape Horn, Agostini Sound, Torres del Paine in
Chle and Argentina
Blyde River Canyon, Hoedspruit, Soweto, Port Elizabeth, Khynsa, Hermanus in So. Africa
Here are some of my pictures:

Thanks tevake, its one of the main reasons I love to travel.

To Motion - Out of the way places I would like to do in the near future
(I would love to know how to rack up miles like that):
Tasmania, South Island NZ
SE Asia
Climb Mt. Kenya (supposedly faster, easier and way more scenic than Kilimanjaro)
Baffin Island, Trondheim, Iceland, Isle of Skye

Well, other than the fact that I've lived in SoCal for 30 years and been through Santa Barbara a zillion times? We used to ride Hwy 154 to Cold Springs Tavern every year on our way to the pilgrimage that is known as Laguna Seca on motorbikes. Its a cool place, for sure.

You know, you need a good jacket for all these trips.
Who wants the best jacket ever made!? Only $1500

Sammy, a guy has to Google your sense of humor. But, I did get the Guam tipping over one instantly. That video is burned into my brain for life.

If you do make it to Melbourne, go and see the evening Penguin Parade at Phillip Island. Good to base yourself here for a visit to Tasmania &/or Sydney, both are very pretty places.

I use anything from an iphone to a FF DSLR with tripod. It helps to understand light, the willingness to get a good composition and the limitations of the equipment. I process through lightroom and finish in photoshop if necessary. Here is an iphone 4 pano of the Eastern Sierras (the part that Cheryl Strayed skipped on the PCT):

Another interesting thing I would like to do is take a world cruise, there is a 90 day ticker on vacations to go that shows some incredible deals like this one from Rotterdam to Singapore 41 days starting at less than $3000:

Don't forget there's tons of amazing out of the way places here such as Canyon de Chelly in AZ, the Apostle ice caves in Minnesota and Ricketts Glen in PA.
