Most of the manifold they made is about 3mm thick... How long will that last?

But I'm sure they'll work it out...

Great series. (I still don't like those stepped drills)

I have never used, or had the desire to use those stepped drills. It seems they would be wonderful on sheet metal, but quickly burr/dull on anything thicker.

I have had a couple of different sized step bits like that for many years. They work great. As mentioned, best for sheet steel and best in a drill press. I didn't use them that often but enough and they still work. Gotta be careful trying to use one in a hand drill!

They have Episode 4 of Escargot up.

Hopefully the next one will be a painted car being assembled. Then they'll find out how well they engineered this car.

ckelly78z 12-10-2019 02:05 AM

Gotta set aside time to watch this tonight.

porsche tech 12-10-2019 02:35 AM

How many cutting wheels and miles of mig wire do you think they went through to build this car? Love watching them fabricate.

Ready for paint!

I think #28 will be taken up with plumbing the turbo and intercoolers. They have established the positions of the intercoolers, but have not established the pathways of the air in and out of the head. Gotta make some more brackets. Break out the CAD!

I'm looking forward to seeing the Mini painted.

Have they given any clues as to the colour?

oldE 12-25-2019 04:59 AM

Well, I was certainly wrong about episode 28. I guess they'll sort out the intake plumbing in 29, or 30 or...

Merry Christmas, All

Not that I've seen but I hope they do something cool. I was digging the yellow on the fenders.

I can't get my head around the fabrication skills
and then NOT taking out the sheet metal outside seams at the A and C pillar

Agreed, those Mini seam-fillers don't fit the theme of the build.

...might have to do with their being able to quickly/easily replace individual sections in the event of an 'incident'.

None of those brackets or the things he bolted onto those brackets are easily replaceable .

Yep, already watched it.

Nick picked a godawful color for the suspension bits.

Suspension colour could be ok pending body colour.
I have to question the green hardware plating....which makes me think Binky might be painted dark green??
